I thought this was unique and significant to the community as it is one of the very few (I think 3) Brazilian markets in the area.
It is such a cool shop that sells food and items you can only find in Brazil.
maybe it’s just not eligible… I admit as long as I’ve been playing this game I’ve only submitted maybe 25 pokestops and I always end up getting frustrated and stop trying to nominate bc I don’t really understand the criteria. So, anyway I thought I’d see if the community has any tips for me to get this approved or explain why it can’t be a pokestop. Thank you!!
Heya! It looks like you’re trying to say this is a place for Brazilians to gather. That’s a premise that needs support in your nomination–if they host events, for example, get a picture of a flyer for one of them, or a website link to add to your supporting text.
I also recommend not using photos for the nom and the supplemental that are so similar. Give us a picture of the inside, or a broader view of the plaza. With web submissions, you have up to 5 supporting images, and you can use them to make your case for you.
Here’s a somewhat similar nomination I made a while back, for a Chinese restaurant in my area:
And then here’s the 4 images I used to support that:
I showed the unique menu items that made it different from other restaurants in the area, a dining room shot to show it was a place people socialized, and the tripadvisor/newspaper articles to support it being notable in the area and within the local Korean community.

Okay…. Wow!! Your submission was really great and it’s obvious how much time and effort you put into that. I probably spent 3 minutes total taking pics and writing up my little nomination. I really appreciate that reference, that makes a lot of sense. Next time I go by xmart I’ll try again. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me as well!

Glad to help!
The real trick of this all is that it’s a persuasive exercise. If you can walk the reviewer right up to why this point of interest is unique and awesome, they’ll have a lot fewer reasons to reject. Your job is to make it hard for them to say it’s not something special.

Hey @TayOlive13 I’m not that far from Matthews! I think I know where this is. @darkersolstice gave some awesome advise. Next time you are by there, peek in and see if there is a mural or something on the wall or on the side of the building. When businesses like this, you have to think outside the box. I personally think you can make a great case for inclusion.

I may have just gotten lucky with my similar submission. Here’s what I wrote. Don’t copy it, but absorb the “flavor” of how I described it. This particular nomination was also clearly named as a Brazilian Bakery.

Here’s how I described another cultural hotspot

I would think this could qualify under the exploration criterium. Socialization would seem to be harder to sell. This would have fallen within my primary review area, but I’ve not been doing many reviews lately and didn’t see it.
As a general point, I probably would not mention they have multiple locations. That may cause some reviewers to look negatively on it.
To me a Brazilian market in the Charlotte area would not be something I would expect to be a hard sell as a unique business. Maybe include their website, if they have one, in the supporting information. You want to show that it’s an unusual business and qualifies under exploration.
After quick search I didn’t find any news type stories for them but did find their Instagram account.

Yeah. I thought it would be a simple nomination and easily accepted
I’ve had problems with getting things accepted though and I get scared of getting in trouble sometimes. There are also not many stops at all in this immediate area so another reason I thought it would be great.
I saw their Instagram account but didn’t think about including that in the nomination! If I try again, I will include that too. Thank you!!
There’s no mural unfortunately! I went in to get some Brazilian treats and it’s actually really small but they have so many amazing things. It’s not a bakery, it’s literally a market. So they sell chips and drinks and other items that you can normally only get in Brazil.
I get so discouraged when I start submitting spots because it seems like it should be so simple but you really have to put together a freaking power point to get people to approve these things lol
Thank you for another reference!! You are gifted in the writing department lol I will take notes!
Meh. Practice makes perfect good enough. I’m also just … old.

It does make it less distinct that Supermercado Brasileiro is just next door though
The nearby Korean market/restaurant has a bulletin board and a mural
And that soccer field seems good
And the comic store
This donut shop already has a wayspot but they seem to have this cool mural/ photo spot which should be in an empty cell also

Don’t be discouraged. From experience I’ve learned there is definitely a subjective aspect to all these. What we think is cut and dried, and should be an easy acceptance, sometimes for no apparent reason isn’t. Sometimes a quickly written nomination with little support will sail through while one exceptionally well written will be rejected. We just try again. Don’t take it personally.
I’ve had trail markers rejected multiple times while others all around it fly through.
Now I want to get some Brazilian treats.

Wow, you’re good!!! I have total soccer on my list to make a stop but I can’t get a good picture of the entrance sign bc I always have my kids with me and it’s right in the side of a busy road. I’ll get it eventually though. With that though, how would I phrase the description? A place to gather and play soccer?
This is what I have in my notes
Total Soccer Charlotte
Charlotte’s Premier Indoor Soccer Facility
Parties, rentals, kids & adult indoor soccer leagues. This local facility is a focal point for the Charlotte soccer community!
I think the description you have is good, and then for the supporting statement you can write that it’s a great place to exercise together
You can add that it doesn’t belong to any school to make sure people don’t think it’s on school property but other than that I don’t think soccer fields are very difficult to get approved (at least not where I am)

Looks like he’s nominating an indoor soccer facility and the picture will be the sign. So, I think that should be easy.
But… yes… outdoor soccer fields can be hard some times.
I think you misunderstood
Yeah…. guess I can’t read.
