Hiking Trail Marker tiles

  • Wayspot Title: Beleef- en beweegroute

  • City: Oud-Vossemeer

  • Country: Netherlands

  • Additional Information (if any):

Hi there, I’ve submitted a few of these trail markers throughout town and they all were rejected at once by the Niantic team. Could someone please explain why?

I know these tiles don’t look significant at first glance:

But they form a fun hiking route around town:

The Beweeg- en beleefroute (Exercise and Experience Route) in Oud-Vossemeer is a kid-friendly trail designed to encourage outdoor play and physical activity.

Here is a summary of the key details:

Background & Concept

• Origin: Conceived in 2023 with input from local schoolchildren and officially opened in September 2024.

• Navigation: You can follow the route by looking for fox icons on the sidewalk tiles.

• Purpose: To connect various playgrounds throughout the village and motivate children to exercise while enjoying nature.

What to Expect

• Play & Movement: The route links multiple play areas featuring equipment like balance bridges, play panels, and swings. Between these stops, there are extra activities like wide slides and hopscotch grids.

• Nature & Learning: The trail passes through green spaces, allowing children to discover local plants and animals. It is a “sensory” experience designed to let kids see, hear, smell, and feel their environment.

Where to Start

• Information Boards: You can find full maps and details at two main points:

  1. Speeltuinvereniging de Vossentuin (Playground Association).

  2. The entrance to the village woods (dorpsbos).

• Digital Map: A route map is also available for download on their official website: Routekaart beweeg- en beleefroute Oud-Vossemeer (pdf, 412 KB)

I even linked the official municipality website in the submissions to prove the uniqueness and significance ( Beweeg- en beleefroute Oud-Vossemeer | Gemeente Tholen )

Therefore, I hope you could reconsider the rejection. This hiking trail is, in my opinion, much cooler than most other hiking trails and actually fits Niantic’s games really well.

I have moved this post to the correct category as appeals are only for rejected staff reports not for rejected nominations by the community

Thank you, but all emails said “our team”, so it was a staff rejection right?

For nominations, the appeals area is only to appeal rejected reports, I get the confusion.

This will hopefully get you insight from the community on how to improve these nominations.

In this instance, I think “Our Team” means the Machine Learning tool that seeks to filter out more blatantly unsuitable nominations. However, sometimes it can’t detect suitable nominations. If you are prepared to post screenshots of your nominations then the community on here could provide you with some advice as to whether these are worth pursuing and what could be done to improve them to make them more likely to get past ML and be accepted by the community.

I remember reading on this forum that the low countries had a problem with fake tiles and lots of wayspots had to be removed. It is likely that the ML system has been trained on this basis.

“Our team” in the rejection email can mean either the in house staff or the “automated process” decisions. You can tell if it was the “automated process” on your contribution itself on your contributions page at https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/nominations

Since your post was moved to this category, you did not see the prompts that help us help you:

Please provide:

  • A screenshot of your nomination, including rejection reasons if it has already been rejected
  • Include the title, description, both photos, and supplemental information
  • Copy and paste the title, description and supplemental so others can translate them
  • If you feel comfortable please share the location, as it is helpful (i.e. hidden duplicates), but you can mask it if you wish.

Hi guys, I appreciate everyone trying to help! I appealed one of them and it got accepted

Does anyone know if I can appeal them all on here? Or do I have to wait the 2 weeks each

You have to use the appeal system on the website.

So it will take time.
You can decide if it would be quicker to improve and resubmit.
