Firstly, I apologize for any gramatical or syntax error, I am not a native speaker but I will try my best. I have reviewed a lot of wayspots lately, following the criteria fully, and I have rejected many mural/graffitis that are on private property, now I am reviewing again, and I found a wayspot that i rejected this monday that was clearly on a private property, and more so, it was a fake mural (the mural could not be seen on google maps neither the wall that it could be drawn on if the photo of google maps was taken before the graffity) and the wayspot was live beside this new wayspot I was reviewing that is also fake ( so the wayspot was accepted even though I mark it as fake and on a private property. this sparks some questions:
does my wayferer rating decreses if a wayspot like this (obviously fake) gets accepted? because I am asumming most reviewers on my contry ( Chile) dont know well the criteria rules and just see a mural and consider it appropiate and accept the wayspot, where if they took some time to see they should clearly reject, soo, does my wayferer rating gets affected?
if I see a wayspot that I remember reviewing now live, but it is clearly fake, how can I directly report it? if I report, does this affects my wayferer rating?
this depends of the answer of point 1) but if I follow the criteria fully, but most wayferers that are reviewing dosent, does this mean that I am the one getting less agreements meaning my rating decreses following the criterua fully? how is this monitored? as I said before, if obvously fake, abusive or private property murals are being accepted by 10 people, but only 1 (myself) is rejecting them, does this affect the only person really taking its time to review the wayspots?
does my wayferer rating decreses if a wayspot like this (obviously fake) gets accepted?
A small amount, but please ignore that when you are doing the right thing, because reviewing correctly will give you a good rating even if there are lots of reviews where you don’t agree with the majority.
if I see a wayspot that I remember reviewing now live, but it is clearly fake, how can I directly report it?
One option is to go to the wayfarer map at Niantic Wayfarer and click on the report button.
if I report, does this affects my wayferer rating?
If the mural is fake (e.g. photoshop) you can report via the Reporting Abuse link at the top of the page.
For ones on the fence of single family private residential property, you can report for removal using the Wayfarer Map on the Wayfarer site, or use the Wayspot Removals form linked at the top of this page. The map is probably easiest but if that report gets rejected then you could try the form instead.
I am trying my best at reviewing, but I have rejected many, I repeat, many murals on private property houses, so this “small amount” could be huge if many people are accepting and not rejecting
if it helps, my total agreement percentage is 54.6% and my rating is Great. That’s over years, not recent, and the rating will weight heavier towards recent agreements, but it does show that you can have a lot of disagreements and be OK.
For Ingress, which inherited the same code, my agreement percentage was below 50% for only a few months of reviews yet I still had a Great rating, so I suspect the same is true for Wayfarer.
I understand the problems with murals on private houses, especially where the mural is adjacent to a public space.
well that is conforting, thanks ssalixsorbus, my rating if “good” and my total agreement percentage I cant see it, or dont know where, or maybe I have to calculate it, but my total nomination review is 392, nominations accepted 144, nominations rejected 32, nominations duplicated 9
Ah, I have add-ons because the basic stats are a little lacking. I forgot about them!
The stats for nominations accepted/rejected/duplicated is how many agreements you had for that review result, even though this isn’t completely obvious, so you have 185/392 agreements which is a little below 50%.
A Good rating still means your reviews contribute to the count in Pokemon Go (assuming it has one?), as you need either a Good or Great rating for that, so your rating is fine
imo this is a huge flaw in the wayfarer system. i think the percentage of folks actually reviewing by criteria rather than just what they do or do not see in game is very low, but i do not have access to those numbers. education is needed, and i don’t have any solution to that, or i would propose it.
a wayfarer ambassador suggested that if using my best judgement is not enough for me, then i should step away from wayfarer. so now i just share what knowledge i have of how the system works.
keep doing what you are doing in trying to follow criteria! i truly believe that it will average out in your favor. if you start trying to guess which way the community is going to vote, it will stress you out, and could even result in warnings for reviewing incorrectly if niantic is doing an investigation into how something went live that shouldn’t have.
and do report those you see that should not have been accepted. while it won’t undo the disagreement you got in voting, i think that getting those off the map can help for the future - if Niantic will remove them. some things they won’t remove once accepted.
Please always stick to wayfarer criteria. Those people accepting might be part of what we called review circle. Its subject to abuse ladder system. If you accept obviously fake wayspot, you could end up in bigger trouble when someone report it
Remember that this could increase. I believe the 392 is everything you have reviewed, the others don’t include those still going through the system.
I would love if Niantic could create a system when a Result is overturned it effects your Review Results. Maybe for those overturned quickly, say within the last couple of months.
This would encourage people to report those wrongly accepted / rejected.
At least a “can staff take a look at this one” option.
