I don't understand this duplicate?

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: ‘Round 1’ Billiards at Riverside Mall

  • Location (lat/lon): 41.848948,-87.811096

  • City: North Riverside

  • Country: United States

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any): I am confused and don’t know if I’m doing something wrong. I don’t know if I am understanding this correctly, my appeal was marked as a duplicate because I submitted a bowling alley and it got accepted? These are billiards and that’s a bowling alley I don’t understand how it can be interpreted as a duplicate aside from those activities being hosted by the same company. To me it feels like saying “you already submitted a soccer field in this park, you cant submit the horse shoe pit next to it, it’s a duplicate” I also went to the map to double check in case someone might have submitted but nothing is there.

It’s two aspects of the same business; both can’t be eligible. The bowling alley is the business, and it has a billiards room inside it.

Think of it this way, if a playground has multiple pieces of equipment bunched together, Niantic considers it one point of interest. A playground, a swingset, and a sea saw, for example. If those are all bunched together, they are one point of interest. If there is some separation between them, then you can sometimes consider them multiple POIs

As the bowling alley and the billiards room are in the same building, operated by the same business, they are considered 1 POI.

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks :ok_hand:

II am going to move this to nomination support as the appeals area is for a set group of appeals. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
