I got a Power Spot approved through trial and error

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share something I figured out recently about Power Spot nominations.

I had no idea if it would work, but after reading a post someone shared with me and with all the help I’ve received from this forum whenever I’ve asked about Power Spots, I decided to give it a shot — and it actually worked!

From what I can tell, the key seems to be that there needs to be enough physical distance between existing Power Spots. It doesn’t seem to follow the same rules as regular PokéStops (L17 cells don’t appear to apply here), so even in areas that are already well covered with POIs, you can still get a Power Spot approved as long as the distance between nodes is sufficient.

I’m in a small village with very few Power Spots, so this was a huge deal for me! Has anyone else experimented with this? Would love to know if others have had similar results or if there’s more to it that I’m missing. Either way, huge thanks to this community for always pointing me in the right direction!

Now let’s see if I can apply the same theory again and get even more Power Spots for my village… wish me luck! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

The observations about powerspots are that a new community-submitted wayspot needs to meet the following to be used in the powerspot rotation pool, but won’t necessarily appear immediately:

  • be in a cell that already has a pokestop or gym (otherwise it would become one of those)
  • be at least 22m from the nearest live wayspot (pokestop, gym, powerstop)

This seems to match what you just succeeded with :slight_smile:

Yes! Yes that happend haha and I’m so Happy because I really need more powerspots, again, this post was just to share my excitement.

As I said, I want to thank all the users that helped me with this issue, because when I made my first post I didn’t know much about the inside of the Game. And you guys helped me a lot.

What a nice forum you guys have here, really, I’ve never seen this in a long time.

When people reply here, they are almost always trying to help. This doesn’t necessarily mean telling the op what they want to hear, but it’s the way this forum has worked since the beginning, and it stays civil and friendly (with the very occasional exception).
