Inquiry: Is there a way to speak directly with a Niantic representative?

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping to get some guidance, or ideally, a way to discuss a specific rejected appeal with Niantic staff, as I feel the true nature of my nomination is being misunderstood.

I nominated the “Training Academy - Polo Formativo Regionale” in Genzano di Roma, Italy. It is an adult vocational training center accredited by the local government (Regione Lazio).

Unfortunately, both the initial reviewers and the Niantic Appeal review rejected it, citing it as a “Generic store or restaurant” and lacking cultural significance. The note from Niantic on the appeal stated: “We are unable to verify as per the nomination context how this business is locally significant… We suggest that you add more information… in a new nomination.”

I want to clarify that this is not a generic business, nor is it a K-12 school. It is an educational and civic hub for adults. People gather here to socialize, learn, and develop professional skills, often through free, state-funded courses. It serves the exact same community purpose as a public library or a civic center.

My questions are:

  1. Is there a way to escalate this specific case to Niantic staff to clarify the nature of government-accredited adult education centers?
  2. For the community and Ambassadors: How can I better prove “local significance” for an adult training center in a future nomination so it doesn’t automatically trigger the “generic business” rejection?

I have provided official website links and government accreditation details in my supporting info, but it seems to be overlooked. Any advice or direct help from the Niantic team would be hugely appreciated!

For #1, there is a way to speak to Niantic representatives and you already did it — by lodging an appeal.

Someone else may be able to assist with your second question — to answer properly would be a longer response than I can do at the moment — but it isn’t possible to ‘re-appeal’ a rejected appeal on the forum. And based on past history when it comes to criteria clarifications, your chances of getting Niantic to provide specific criteria guidelines for Adult vocational training centres is basically nil.

You cant lodge an appeal as such, but draw attention to your case.
