Yes but that is strangely grey area. Too grey. Oh I’ve seen the links and I still have to question all of this. Thats why I did question it.
A famous hotel might be eligible on its own merits. You can provide links in the supporting section to prove it meets the “exploration” criteria. It may have art inside which would be in an eligible location.
Oh! I just looked it up. I don’t think Wayfarer exists in North Korea. Happy to help with genuine questions, but hate being trolled.
Please provide the full information.
As this is going off the original topic to questions about specific nominations, I will consider split this so that the nominations that you need help with can be given full attention.
The rules around military bases were more strict at one point, but Niantic listened to wayfarer users who live and work in such locations and used their feedback to change the rules to be a bit more flexible with regards to eligibility.
So long as someone who has a legitimate reason to be on the base can access an area safely and would not be breaking any rules by being on their phones in such an area, then wayspots in that area are usually OK.
If there are restricted/sensitive areas within the base where even authorised personnel would not be allowed to have their phones or other photographic/electronic devices, wayspots would not be OK in those areas.
Just remember that if you personally don’t have a legitimate reason to be in such a location, you’re expected to follow real world rules and not trespass. Just because you don’t personally have access to a location, it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t exist.
Picnic areas are permitted even on military bases, but how they are judged is up to the base commander.
Consequently, some military bases have removed all such areas.
Recent global circumstances are likely a factor in this as well.
We have wayspots in the residential and publicly-accessible ones here in Canada. Some are accessible by anyone as communal areas outside a confined base and some are in more confined exclusive to base residents. Like said above, if the areas within the base exclusive only to base residents are not deemed sensitivity or restricted, they should exist.
We have recreational facilities, sculptures, plaques and a community hall in the bases here.
it’s like this for a long time. just because someone on a military base was like “oooh my life is destroyed I can’t play PoGo here” we now have spots in those impossible to reach areas that have a significant impact on that other game
There are other spots which are also not accessible to everyone, such as inside gated communities or in places which you have to pay to enter. Fortunately for Pokemon Go, these don’t matter. For the other game, it’s just something that you have to handle somehow ![]()
paying is something you could eventually do at some point. it’s not really feasible to become a soldier to maybe reach that one spot locked behind 20 gates at some distant base.
it’s a long standing issue that we won’t solve here…
Soldiers aren’t the only people allowed on military bases
There is no issue. Some people are allowed on the base, some people are allowed to play Pokemon Go.
Do soldiers / civilian staff / families that have the right to be at the location not have the right to some down time?
The discussion had slid sideways and that comment was about the impact on the other game ![]()
Same situation may apply to a campground, amusement park, private club (with social amenities like sports courts or clubhouses) or large museums— they may not be accessible to everyone unless you have access to the property. I appreciate despite I may not have access to some of these properties, there are players who do have access to these waypoints and can enjoy their gaming experience. ![]()
