King George VI Post box

Trying to make the rare post box at the end of my road into a pokestop similar to the one around the corner from the previous king. They are equally rare and deservent of a pokestop but it keeps getting rejected even though I’m following the correct templates to create one it has the same style information as the existing one

Welcome to the forums

if you want to post some details, you can get advice. There’s plenty of UK postbox nerds here

Was it rejected by Our Team or the Community?
Have you appealed and been rejected on appeal?

Can you post the coordinates of the postbox, then your title, description, supporting and photos?

This is the post box in question, more rare than the one around the corner according to the other feeds I’ve been reading. The GR V has a pokestop but this one doesn’t

Appeal Notes
This post box is pretty rare as not many were made during the wars, to have metal used else where, there is a similar post box with a pokestop for the previous king his dad King George V, so it would make sense that this also had a poke stop. The GRVI post box I’m trying to make is more rare then the earlier GR post box that has a pokestop around the corner. The post office in town is one already else I’d have tried to make it’s post box out side another pokestop because it’s a VR cypher which is even more rare again because of its age

Thanks for the appeal, Wayfinder! The nomination in question is a mass-produced operational Royal postboxes which do not meet the acceptance criteria to be a distinct one from the rest of the other postboxes. Additionally, the post box is located on the pillar of a private residence property. If this assessment is not accurate, please resubmit the nomination with additional context. We recommend you review the Wayspot Criteria and Forum Criteria Discussions Library sections before submitting your next Wayspot contribution: Wayfarer — Niantic Technical Support and Help Center and Forum Criteria Discussions Library — Wayfarer Help Center

If there is any other information that would help my case I can try and find it

This the the figures that prove its twice as rare as the on that already has a pokestop

Niantic will never approve this on appeal, for two reasons.

  1. It’s a postbox. Although UK reviewers accept pre-EIIR postboxes, Niantic don’t recognise them as being special and definitely a POI for exploring.

  2. This one is on SFPRP. This is very unfortunate, but it’s hard to get around this. SFPRP includes the external boundary and this is in the hedge, not in front of it.

I think you will have to walk away from this one, just like I have had to walk away from this lovely milepost.

I dont understand why the one around the corner has one though?

I think this is a tricky one. This is worthy of an appeal on here, and the justification is that the mailbox is for public use and is rare. The SFPRP is an issue, but I think this should be the exception to the rule.

I don’t think that’s SFPRP, I think that’s an overgrown hedge hiding the boundary.

Assuming you mean this one - King George V Postbox (51.054558,-2.408747) - this is also ineligible due to location.

Almost certainly, it will have been accepted because reviewers don’t always pay attention to the eligibility rules. This happens, but it doesn’t make yours eligible :frowning:

There is no exception to the rule. If it is for public use and on SFPRP, it is still not eligible. Think of all the murals that are on the sides of SFPRP and clearly there for the public.

It will go down to where the property boundary is. Without looking at the GIS survey (or whatever the UK equiv is), it could be seen as private property.

I wouldn’t spend effort appealing a postbox here. The community like them, Niantic don’t.

Murals on SFPRPis a hard no in all cases as it serves no public purpose. Mailboxes do.

It’s a very well trimmed hedge and cannot be classified as overgrown :frowning:

It won’t be, because the homeowner can’t prevent anyone using that postbox, and doesn’t own or maintain it either. I bet the hedge is acthally behind it in any case. Wouldn’t consider that sfprp whatsoever

How would I go about correctly appealing

Also can someone catch me up on the acronyms I can’t remember :joy:

We both agree that the Postbox is eligible, just disagree on whether it’s on SFPRP. As long as it’s public facing, the homeowner could not refuse access to it.

FWIW = For What It’s Worth.

LOL = Laugh out Loud or Lots of Laughs.

SFPRP = Single Family Private Residentail Property.

IDK = I don’t know.

1 of them is relevant, the others added for comedic value.

To answer your other question, I think here should be fine. If Niantic rejects it, don’t resubmit for now, as spamming the same failing nomination could be seen as abuse.

Anyone else want to cast a vote on whether this is SFPRP or not?

Aside from the op asking (and the reviewers and Niantic), we have 1 definitely SFPRP, 1 definitely not SFPRP and one on the fence (hedge).
