I am appealing the simultaneous removal of two valid Wayspots in the village of Oud-Vossemeer. Both are “Little Free Libraries” (Boeken Delen) that were previously accepted after community review.
Eligibility & Importance:
These locations are quintessential examples of Wayspots that encourage Exploration and Social Interaction. They serve as permanent neighborhood hubs where residents exchange literature and engage with one another.
I suspect these may have been removed during a local sweep. However, I would like to clarify the following:
• Public Access: Both libraries are placed facing the public sidewalk and are intended for public use.
• Pedestrian Safety: Both are located in low-speed, pedestrian-friendly village zones with clear access from the pavement. They do not require visitors to enter private gated land or gardens.
• Community Assets: These are not mere “home decorations”; they are registered community exchange boxes maintained for the public good.
• Coordinates: This one was not submitted by me but the coordinates are roughly here - (51.5731397, 4.1970181)
This one has been a wayspot for years now.
Since they were both removed at the same time, I assume there’s a new reason for that, but I’m not sure. It would be great if both of them could be added back!
The 1st one definitely fails the SFPRP rule, I don’t see the 2nd one on google maps but with area I would it fails the same.
The argument normally stated is that the home owner may be happy for you to go and grab a book but it could be very different if a crowd turns up to do a raid.
