I think Wayfarer needs to amend the context of Free Little Libraries.
How is it jumping over 1000 obstacles to prove a Little Free Library is valid as a Pokestop, and someone provided so many photos already locally with a measuring tape.
This is for a stop that promotes access to free books. IMO this is just wild and Little Free Libraries don’t stand a chance to be as Pokestops if we have to submit detailed photos with measuring tapes and supporting legal documents because people are on a mission to remove Little Free Libraries everywhere, access to free books, for no alleged known reason other than to ensure its “accurate”.
A little free libraries are a very valid point of Interest, however it’s location is what the issue becomes. For whatever it’s worth I have always been in the camp that if a little free library has been placed you are already inviting the public to that location. With that being said Niantic has stated in the past and it is part of their guidelines that little free libraries that are in front of a single family private residence or in front of a school violate the location aspect of placing a PoI.
So to simply answer your question yes a little Free Library is an acceptable point of interest but for the majority of them which are placed in front of single family private residential property they are going to get denied for that reason. And if somebody comes across one while playing a game and reports it to Niantic it will get removed.
Which is understandable , and I know that is the argument against it. But I would counter that the rule and the lawsuit that triggered this rule are not necessarily valid anymore as the hysteria over Pokemon go is nowhere near the levels of 2016. And with the random Edition of power spots all over residential neighborhoods, no one seems to be complaining about those. This is one of those rules that was enacted because of a few bad apples and if there wasn’t a few incidents of malicious destruction of property then I don’t think we would be in this situation.
I probably just triggered @xLilPoundcake with starting multiple sentences with and and but.
If you are a bit fancy with the Hammer and Nails what is to stop you creating one, stick it your fence, nominate then remove it. “Couch Stop” here we come…
I think we could pick problems with many of the criteria. Somethink I have done several times already (and trying to avoid doing more ) but I think you have consider the rules “in the spirit of the game” and not in the exact wording.
