【English Description】
The current location of this Wayspot is severely misplaced. In the real world, the structure is located exactly at the intersection of Wenchang St. and Wenchang St. Guangfu Alley. However, the current marker erroneously shifts northeast into private property. This layout inaccuracy prevents players from accessing it safely from the pedestrian intersection. The suggested coordinates (24.775002, 121.079392) represent the precise and true location where the temple arch stands. Attached are the IITC map showing the offset and the rejection screenshot. Please help correct the coordinates to maintain data accuracy. Thank you!

Welcome to the forums

三山國王廟牌樓 is at 24.775002, 121.079392 and looks like it has always been there (it was there in May 2025 and there now)

芎林老街傳統雙層剪黏工藝金爐 is at 24.775559,121.079367 (and hasn’t moved since May 2025), which is where you said the first wayspot was.

Are you sure your coordinates are correct?

(24.77501,121.079387)

That makes more sense.

However, your requested move takes it from one incorrect location to another incorrect location, which just happens to be an empty cell, with another misplaced wayspot taking over as the pokestop in the first cell.

The purple pin is the current location, the red marker is your suggested location, while the true location is the bridge/structure in the top-right section of this photo.

The correct location for 三山國王廟牌樓 is either 24.775101, 121.079411 or 24.775077, 121.079455

Thank you for the detailed analysis, @salixsorbus .

However, I need to clarify that the color indicators were mixed up. The purple pin is actually the CURRENT incorrect location (the misplaced marker shifted northeast into private property), and the red marker is my SUGGESTED new location at the pedestrian intersection.

Regarding the actual structure: while the center of the arch spans closer to the coordinates you provided, placing the pin directly on the arch body will cause it to overlap with an already occupied S2 L17 cell, causing this live Wayspot to completely disappear from Pokémon GO.

The red marker (24.77501, 121.079387) represents the safe pedestrian access point directly connected to the archway. It accurately represents the arch area for visitors while safely avoiding the occupied grid, ensuring players can interact with it without accidentally removing a live PokéStop.

Could the Niantic team please consider the red marker location (24.77501, 121.079387) to balance both real-world correlation and safe gameplay? Thank you!

Thank you for the clarification, @salixsorbus.

My intention for suggesting the red marker (24.77501, 121.079387) is entirely based on pedestrian safety and interaction quality.

As the archway spans across a road/bridge structure, placing the pin directly on the center of the arch body puts it in an unsafe area for pedestrians to stand or interact with.

The red marker represents the exact pedestrian sidewalk intersection directly leading up to the archway. In dense or restricted environments, aligning the pin to the safest, most accessible pedestrian touchpoint of a large structure aligns with Wayfarer guidelines. It allows visitors to safely stand and view the arch without stepping into traffic or private property boundaries.

I kindly ask the Niantic team to consider the red marker for the sake of real-world pedestrian accessibility. Thank you.

You are asking for an incorrect location solely to ensure the wayspot appears in Pokemon Go.

I understand your concern, but my primary focus is strictly on real-world accuracy and pedestrian safety, not game-specific mechanics.

The current live location (purple pin) is heavily misplaced and sits entirely inside a private property boundary, which directly violates Wayfarer guidelines regarding private residential property.

The suggested red marker is not “incorrect”; it represents the safest pedestrian access point directly connected to the archway structure. Since the arch spans a roadway, dropping a pin right on the center of the arch would force players to stand in traffic or on a bridge. Aligning the Wayspot to the nearest safe sidewalk intersection where the community actually gathers to view the arch is a standard practice for large structures.

I kindly request the Niantic team to review the real-world street view to confirm that the red marker provides the best balance of safety and public accessibility, away from private property. Thank you.

The Wayspot is already fully live and currently visible in Pokemon Go. I am not trying to “make it appear.”

I requested this move because the current location is heavily misplaced inside private property, and the proposed marker provides a safe pedestrian access point for a large archway structure that spans a road. Please check the actual map status before making assumptions.

I am not making assumptions, but observations. This is the structure that the wayspot represents. I said that the best locations were either side of the archway, not the centre.

Thank you for providing the street view image and for the constructive discussion. I completely agree with your point that the best placement for an archway structure is on its sides rather than the geometric center of the road.

Based on the photo you shared, the left side of the arch (where the current misplaced purple pin is located) sits right against the private residential property boundary where cars park, which directly violates Wayfarer guidelines regarding private property encroachment.

On the other hand, the right side (where my suggested red marker 24.77501, 121.079387 is located) features an open sidewalk corner with a traffic mirror. This right side offers a much safer and fully accessible pedestrian area for the community to stand and view the arch safely without obstructing traffic or encroaching on private property.

Since we both agree that the sides are the optimal placement, the red marker on the right side provides the most guideline-compliant and safest touchpoint. I will leave the final adjustment to the Niantic team. Thank you!

If you are saying that pinning it AT the exact location is unsafe then then correct thing to do is to request it’s removal.

There is no rule that states it should be placed “somewhere close” to make it safe.

This is not a matter of “randomly placing the marker nearby for safety,” but rather a necessary correction of a significant geographical error. The current location (24.775092, 121.079352) is severely misplaced, pushing the marker directly inside a private residence structure to the northeast.

As Wayfarer community members, our primary goal when submitting location edits is to reflect the real world and ensure database accuracy. In reality, the physical foundation of this temple arch stands exactly at the intersection of Wenchang St. and Wenchang St. Guangfu Alley (24.775002, 121.079392), which offers an open and safe pedestrian sidewalk.

Correcting the marker to its true physical location aligns perfectly with Niantic’s criteria for data accuracy, ensuring players gather in a safe public pedestrian space rather than on private property. This is entirely different from your suggestion of removal. We will leave the final decision to the Niantic Admins to verify via official street view and satellite data. Thank you.

Thank you for your valuable insight. If the Niantic Admins review the satellite and street view data and conclude that this temple arch poses safety or traffic concerns at both the misplaced location (inside private property) and its true physical location (the intersection), I would fully support and respect a decision by Niantic to permanently remove this Wayspot from the database entirely.

My sole intention as a Wayfarer member was to improve data accuracy and pedestrian safety. If the Admins decide to correct it to the true location, that is a benefit to the community. If they decide to retire it for safety reasons, I sincerely respect that outcome as well.

Once you lay out the satellite imagery and the grid lines, it’ll be clear what you’re trying to do…

Actually, you don’t need to be so fixated on moving it into an empty grid.
The rainbow zebra crossing next to it is quite unique, isn’t it?

This request has absolutely nothing to do with cells. Please clarify the actual situation first.

The Wayspot “三山國王廟牌樓” is already an existing point on the map. This is purely a Location Editsubmitted to make the pin more accurate to the real-world position of the archway. Please stop assuming every location correction is a malicious attempt to manipulate grid cells. Thank you.

Thanks for the appeal, @971128! We have taken another look, and we have already moved the Wayspot to the correct location.

Interestingly, it is in the correct position, in a S2 L17 cell which now has 3 active pokestops.

Then what will happen?

There is only one at present.
