Location Edit in voting for 15 days

Basically the title. Neighborhood water tower that is a waypoint. the current location is centered on the driveway off to the side on Russel st. I submitted a location edit to center the POI on the water tower itself.

The fence by the driveway that the spot is currently located doesn’t have a name sign of any kind, just a phone number to report suspicious activity to the water company. In fact, the company logo on the water tower can’t even be fully viewed from that side, only ‘Ill Americ’ is legible from that angle, not reflecting the existing poi photos of the tower

the north side of the property actually has a better location for players to meet up being a larger open space there, plus room right across the street on the north side as well. Plus the east side of the property where the poi is currently located has worse cell service

I’m unsure if the amount of time in voting is normal, or if I’ve made some kind of mistake by submitting it. It is my first ever location edit, so dont really know what to expect for a timeline on that

Hello and welcome @NotTeganQuinn

It is not unusual for edits to take time to resolve.
For location edits since the distance is limited it is very often easier to use the help chat bubble to suggest a move and provide evidence

Looking at the coordinates you have provided

The current position appears to be at the entrance.
The suggested move does not appear to be necessary and in fact appears to make it less accessible except for the few homes to the rear.

Please be aware that if the wayfarer team believes that the suggested move is an attempt to manipulate the gameboard then they can apply sanctions as per the policy given here

I agree with @elijustrying.

I’ll also add that reviewing location edits can be challenging in general, so I’m not surprised that some of them stay in voting for awhile, presumably because they haven’t reached a consensus. This particular location is easy to see on satellite view because it’s gigantic, but usually, this isn’t the case. Often, we just see 2 proposed locations that are right next to each other in an area where satellite view is impossible to decipher.

Thank you for the replies. The explination provided makes sense for the amount of time in voting.

I live more than a block away, so niether location would benifit me or anyone i know. so there wasn’t any map manipulation intended there.

As for the point about it making it less accessible i have to concur. That was definitely poor placement on my part. If I could redo it i would probably suggest a spot like this instead. Would that be a better solution? or would it still be best to leave in the original location?

I guess i didn’t really consider that to be the entrance, given only water company employees can enter the fence, and there are no tresspassing signs on that side of the fence as well

Ignoring the location, I would more have an issue on how this meets Criteria?

Socialise, Exercise, Explore?

There is also a fire hydrant close to the gate, could this be a problem?

I’m unsure, it has been there since I started playing Pokemon Go in November, so I never really considered it’s qualifications.
I will say i have seen neigborhood players meeting on the north side for raids at least once, and it is fairly active as a gym

I hadn’t even noticed there was a hydrant by the gate, good catch. I knew there was one on the corner of the lot but that one is further west and right on the street, whereas the one by the gate requires the use of that driveway to reach

Criteria has changed, maybe it did match criteria in the past. The “Removal Criteria” differs from the “Acceptance Criteria”.

Remember if a Location Edit goes to staff they have the option to…

  • Accept your new location.
  • Reject the edit altogether.
  • Decide that an edit is required just not to where you stated.
  • Decide that the waypoint should be removed .
