Memorable Green Gym removed -

Hi! The new “Memorable Green” gym (52,048687,-0.040936) was removed after 3 weeks of being accepted. Don’t understand why. Could it please be reinstated? The community was using it and there aren’t many gyms in the area. Thank you for your help.

Hello and Welcome,

Looking at the location I don’t see anything that meets criteria.

It’s a piece of grass with a path.

Nothing there encourages Exercise, Socialise or explore?

Thank you! It’s more than a patch of grass, it’s a green, where the neighbourhood gets together and has bbqs. It’s where the kids play after school and kick a ball. It was accepted before, but then it was removed :smiling_face_with_tear:

Wayspots often get accepted by reviewers that shouldn’t but if they are brought to the attention of Staff they can be removed.

Something there has to encourage 1 of the 3 main criteria and not be just that it is possible.

I am old enough that we used to be able to play football on the road outside the house, still not eligible :frowning:

Quite a few players were using the gym. We had constant battles!!

Whether it was used or not is not relevant to Wayfarer, only criteria…

If the “Green” had benches that brought people together to socialise, a permanent BBQ location, some outdoor gym equipment this could be eligible but without I see this has just a piece of grass that fills in a space and helps to sell the houses (people like green spaces).

I can walk approx 100 metres from me and pass 2 larger “Green” and 3 smaller.

Where is the name of the green shown in that area? Is there a sign or a plaque?

Shame. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted. :smiling_face_with_tear:.

Looking at the map the estate to the left of you has several “Health Trial Marker”'s running parallel to the train tracks. Do these continue in your estate?

There is a football pitch. Pin behind the goals and there are distinct tennis courts as well

Does this “Rosecomb” sign place mark this path/green space, or is this just a street name sign?

If the community were ever to install some seating, picnic table(s), Little Free Library, etc. in this space, that would certainly help the case for a nomination here.

That sign is unlikely to get anywhere. But the other suggestions are good

Looking at the map this is the street sign…

Yeah I just drove the Google car around some more and these are just the street signs in this neighborhood.

Yes, it is a street sign. The only option left would be a park bench. The tree stump from the photo was used as a landmark (it was from a big tree that had to be cut down as it was dying), but I guess that wasn’t enough for a landmark. Thank you for your feedback!

Thanks for the appeal, @Sarazinha! We have taken another look but stand by our decision to retire this Wayspot.
