Every single neighborhood here on the east side of town has a Pokestop for its entrance sign, no matter how generic, poorly described, etc. There are very few Pokestops on the other side of town, so I tried to nominate my friend’s neighborhood sign as one. We gave a good title, a good description, a great photo, details about local interest, etc., and it was rejected…
But this photo attached is a representative Pokestop on my side of town - why? Why is this OK and a better-photographed, better-described one in another part of town is not OK? I’m scared to appeal because I simply do not understand the rules that say this is a “good” Pokestop.
Now, if you want to say neighborhood signs are boring, I’m with you. I get that completely. But they do get approved. How? This sign is for a suburb, not an “area for bike rides and dog walking.” Just because bikes and dogs are allowed doesn’t mean the place is “for bikes” or “for dogs” - but still, this is somehow a great description?
Neighbourhood signs have been discussed on the forums a lot.
It’s worth noting that the Wayspot you’ve shared may have been approved long ago.
Some people seem to love neighbourhood signs and make some way of justifying them as a great POI.
I’m not in the US (where these signs seem prevalent) but they don’t seem to be great places for exploration, exercise or being social with others to me. Just my own view.
Thanks, I guess there is no real definitive one answer. I’ll simply have to try again and hope someone with some sense looks at it next time. :-/
For what it’s worth, I’ve lived in this neighborhood since well before Pokemon Go existed, and it is not an old Pokespot.
You view it as those that reviewed and rejected were measuring your submission correctly.
As each estate sign is different there is no universal yes or no. The one you have shown looks like a bland sign.
Being accepted does not mean it should have been. Most of these do not meet the criteria of a great place to exercise, explore or be social imo. Niantic has so far refused to make a clarification on these signs, so we are left to using our best judgment.
If you really think the community reviewers do not have sense, you can use an appeal on the rejected nomination. Every appeal is reviewed by Niantic staff. We get 2 appeals, each on a 15 day counter before we can use it again.
