Next wayfarer challenge?

I don’t really now much how this works and when the next one is. I would appreciate some help

Usually there’s one Wayfarer Challenge per quarter.

However, given that Wayfarer now falls under Scopely due to the sale, they may decide to do things differently and there may still be some “settling in” before the next Challenge and any of those decisions get made.

It’ll be posted on the forums when it is happening for sure, so you’re in the right place.

Yeah, I don’t think we’ll see one for a while. With the team probably knee-deep in transitioning everything over to Scopely from Niantic, I would imagine that will take up the bulk of their time.

It’s an ongoing challenge to nominate and/or help people to improve the game board without access to the map of existing wayspots.

Is it still going/ when is the next one :slightly_smiling_face:

There is no official challenge going on right now, if that wasn’t clear. See this post:

Welcome! I thought you might be taking that comment seriously since they didn’t use a ?jk or something like that. Glad you are here

What’s ?jk

? or JK could make something sound like a joke, as not being serious. JK stands for “Just Kidding” in internet slang in many English speaking countries.

Point here though is that we really don’t know when the next challenge will be until a few days before it’s about to start, as that’s when it gets announced by staff here in the forums. While we used to have one about every 3 months, this has changed in the last year, and this could be due to the implementation of ML, the AI system, the sale of Wayfarer and other games to Scopely, the eligibility level being lowered to L35 in PoGo, just to name a few.

a typo of /jk - sorry

“jk” would mean “just kidding”, but not sure if “just kidding” is applicable when the irony comes from the situation itself:

Normally, a wayfarer challenge (meaning contest) is organized by the wayfarer team to encourage participation. But the challenge (meaning difficulty) the community is facing when the map isn’t available is not organized by the team, and instead of promoting participation, it does not :upside_down_face:

I’m really trilled for the next one. After the previous Challenge all my nominations took less than 10 days to be approved/rejected without an upgrade. But following the Google server issues it’s up to 1-2 months again. Now I’m sitting here with 50 nominations in queue/in voting.

Since the split we also have less reviewers since Ingress players don’t get anything from reviewing now.

I really noticed it in my area. My submissions took at max maybe 4 days and then they were decided already. Now it takes atleast 1 month to 2 months until a decision is taken, a big stepdown.

Same here, though yesterday a whole batch was approved within a few minutes (including some that were still in the queue).

I doubt there will be any challenges in the future

Before the US challenge, things here took 2 years…. Now they take 2 months… huge improvements

It’ll take some time to build the numbers back up, but even here in the forums we’re seeing new people who started after the eligibility was dropped to L35.

I’ve never considered 1-2 months a bad timeframe, as I’ve had things take longer, especially in rural areas. Edits tend to take the longest, as I think some just skip over them or don’t care all that much about them. Usually with those though, around 2-3 months of sitting in voting staff will review, and that helps.

There may not be a good deal of really old submissions out there, as the last challenge cleared so much out of the queues. While I enjoy them, I don’t think challenges will be as frequent as they used to be.
