No stop for a s17 cell contains 3 valid wayspots

Following recent location updates, the cell is now “dead” and NO wayspot from that cell is in Pokemon GO. According to the rules, one of them should be a pokestop instead.

GPS:
48.074832,9.177664

Action request: please trigger a sync of that cell so that one pokestop can be rightfully restored in the game.

Greetings.

I am going to set this topic to following to see what staff say, although they will not comment on S2 cells. I notice there is a cell to the south with both a gym and a pokestop, and a cell to the southwest with two pokestops. I wonder if one of these extras is being counted by the algorithm as a pokestop in that empty cell.

(I meant to mention that the map data appears to be a couple of days old, so may not represent the current situation.)

Hello and welcome @301Shark92
Thanks for asking the question.

Could you provide a few details about the “moves” especially when the last move happened.
Have you checked in person or is it all via the map.

The last move was " Bauernmuseum Inzigkofen" on the 4th April and it was just moved within the Cell.
Checked it in person and there is no Stop in that Cell.

Just thinking out loud here. I suspect that particular cell has been geoblocked at the request of the Museum. I could be wrong, but unless all the Wayspots had been approved in the past 72 hours, I suspect it could be geoblocked.

It would be good if Niantic could do a reset in the area to make sure things follow the in-game inclusion rules. Hopefully they can also fix the four nearby cells which are overcrowded and accidentally resulted in five Pokestops which should not exist.

Have you checked in game? I have often seen those orange dots appear for newly approved stops, and the Wayfarer map is often a day or two behind on recognizing them as being live in game.

The other squares do look suspiscious though… unless some of those are sponsored stops?

Germany has no sponsored stops

Hey @301Shark92 ,

Thanks for the report.

The Wayspots at this location now follow the density and inclusion rules.

Best,

Confirming resolved. “Bauernmuseum Inzigkofen” is now showing as a Pokestop on the Wayfarer Map.

Also the extra pokestops spotted by @Tntnnbltn are no longer actively showing in Pogo as pokestops.

Why would you want to remove stops in the game ? These double stops were put in prior to the cells becoming a thing. As player first I hate when people try and remove stops that are there.

Some people care about the accuracy of the wayfarer map and don’t believe that having more stops is automatically the best thing possible. Pokemon Go is about exploring.

Since wayspots represent real things (augmented reality), when those things don’t exist, it is legitimate to remove them from wayfarer.

Cells were always a thing. It may be that these double stops were created before Niantic applied the cell rules properly, back when it was possible to create a pokestop in one place and then move it into an occupied cell so that two pokestops could exist in the same cell.

I understand the frustration when something you have been used to being there disappears.
However these should never have been allowed to occur like this.
They have benefitted from a gameboard that others can’t have. They had an unfair advantage in terms of game play.
All that is happening now is that they have the gameboard that should always have existed and is the same density of interaction points that others have. They will have adapt back to playing as the game intended.

I’ve had stops removed, for three reasons. Four were based on items that were no longer there (three were decorations inside restaurants that had gone out of business, one was a church that had closed and reopened under a new name), one was in a dangerous location (mis-tagged in the middle of a highway; it also claimed to represent a failed business), and four were on buildings that had previously been eligible (churches or medical offices) that had become ineligible because the buildings had been repurposed as a school.
