Photo repeatedly attached to the wrong nearby Wayspot — advice needed!

​When players want to add a photo to a Wayspot that isn’t a PokéStop, they usually submit a new nomination at the exact same location, relying on it being marked as a ‘duplicate’ to get the photo attached to the existing Wayspot. (This is how I currently do it—if there’s a proper or better way to handle this, please let me know!)

​Here’s the problem I’m currently running into: I wanted to add a new photo to Point A. Following the method I mentioned above, I submitted a nomination at the exact same location to trigger a duplicate. To make it clear for reviewers, I even titled it “Photo addition for existing Wayspot ‘A’”. However, it got accepted as a brand-new Wayspot instead of being marked as a duplicate.

​I immediately contacted Support for help, asking them to remove the newly created duplicate Wayspot and transfer the photo to the original Point A. Unfortunately, Support only removed the duplicate Wayspot and didn’t transfer the photo—that was attempt #1.

​So I tried a second time. This time, it successfully got marked as a “duplicate” without creating a new Wayspot—great! However, the photo ended up getting attached to Point B nearby instead. (Both A and B are bronze statues of people reading—one female, one male—so it’s easy to mix them up if you don’t look closely).

​I reached out to Support again, asking them to remove the misassigned photo from B and move it over to A. Once again, Support only removed the photo from B and told me to resubmit. That was attempt #2.

​As instructed, I resubmitted for the third time. Frustratingly, the photo was attached to Point B again.

​That brings us to where things stand now. I’m really not sure how to effectively get this photo added to Point A, so I’m reaching out here for help. Any advice on how to handle this would be greatly appreciated!

To be honest I’m a bit confused why you are so interested in adding photos to wayspots that are not being used?

Theoretically you could use the submitting a duplicate as you are already trying to but please name things accurately. Your example of naming it ‘New photo for…’ sounds strange and potentially abusive as you are trying to influence the reviewers in a specific manner.

Have you tried just going directly to Help Chat for this?

As for the Wayspot title, my intention was honestly just to help reviewers out and avoid creating a brand-new duplicate Wayspot. If that’s considered bad practice, I definitely won’t do it again!

Also, there shouldn’t be any issue with wanting to update a Wayspot’s photo to make it look nicer and more current, right? Especially now that both Pokémon GO and Pikmin Bloom have postcard collection features.

If you had read through my post, you’d see that I’ve already reached out to Support multiple times for help, so I’m not quite sure where that question is coming from.

Have you just asked support to add your photo instead of submitting a duplicate?

No, I actually haven’t tried that, mostly because I assumed any new photo still needs to go through the normal review process. Plus, during all my interactions with Support, they just told me to resubmit and never mentioned that they could add the photo directly for me.

In this case there is no way to add the photo legitimately since the waypoint does not appear in any game. This is something I really hope is comming soon in a update through the web form. Since we can now make submissions on the website I would love to be able to make photo edits and text edits there as well. I wouldn’t even care if it was proximity limited.

Hi, I’d also like to add a bit more context: even though these Wayspots are currently hidden in Pokémon GO, there’s always a chance for PokéStops and Gyms to shift over time. More importantly, players can still get Postcards from these ‘invisible’ Wayspots in Pikmin Bloom by going on Expeditions nearby.

Yap! Hopefully the system will become a bit more user-friendly and flexible in the future.

I understand your intent better now.

I really wish we could interact with the postcards directly through Pikmin Bloom. Or for that matter be eligible for Wayfarer through PB.

But at this time we cannot interact with those postcard photos (vote, etc).

So as @niktero was saying, hopefully the Wayfarer map can soon include edit features. This would solve your dilemma.
