The current cover photograph at the wayspot located at 59.210501, 10.938198 is incorrect, can someone please remove it.
The wayspot with what to me looks like a compass was accepted a few days ago. So I submitted another one with what to me looks like a sextant but could just as easily be interpreted as being a pair of callipers. This new submission was rejected for being a duplicate. Which I of course appealed, then the appeal got rejected because a sextant “is a typical navigation instrument that seems non-distinct, and lacks significance”. On that i strongly disagree, these days a typical navigational instrument is called a GPS. However I suppose a few mariners may carry a sextant as an emergency backup. Historically along with reliabe clocks the sextant has been very significant for navigators. But the main point here is that this is a piece of art and not a sextant.
So to conclude. Please remove the current cover photograph and replace it with the original photograph of a piece of artwork that I think looks like a compass. I must also add that using wayfarer should be fun and not a chore
The cover photograph for this wayspot should be the photograph on the right. The wayspot that this cover photograph was submitted for got rejected as being a duplicate. So there is no where to pin this photograph at the moment. Of course you could always make life easier for yourselves and just admit you made a mistake and accept the original wayspot submission
The system is obviously not working properly. The rejection was almost immediate and I am not even going to try and push the appeal button, as I thought you were only allowed one appeal. I am not that bothered about whether Niantic wants to use this nomination or not. What worries me is they are using my image in an inappropriate way. So please Niantic remove any of my image(s) that are pinned to incorrect location(s) from your servers permanently. Best regards Gareth
You have two separate appeals. Each one has its own 15 day cooldown before being available again.
This means, for example, that if you haven’t appeal for 15 days, you will be able to make two appeals in short order.
I can’t speak to the message you get, as I haven’t had an issue with it, but then I am fairly used to ignoring the phrasing of lots of things in standard Niantic text.
Thankyou @Tntnnbltn for this information. I was not aware of the issue. So for some reason my nominations for unique pieces of art are being confused with state survey markers in New South Wales and flagged as duplicates. Which is so funny
There is a statue in Fredrikstad of a night watchman which is a wayspot/pokestop. Which is the only one in Fredrikstad that i am aware of. It is called “Vekteren” and is provided as a “gift” from an insurance company called Gjensidige to towns throughout Scandinavia. I.e mass produced or at least produced from one mold. I have seen the same statue in Oslo and Stavanger. It is a form of advertising embosed on the plinth is the slogan “tiden går, Gjensidige består”
