I am very new into nominating new POI:s. So to ensure that my nomination would be valid - in this case a picnic area. I read through the clarification here (Picnic Areas) regarding the criteria’s for valid picnic areas.
And i my mind, i think the picnic area i chose as a potential POI would be valid as it fit the criteria’s from that post.
When i first nominated my POI, it got auto rejected by the AI so i made an appeal where i explained that the table and benches to the left is bolted to the ground. There is also gravel specifically in the picnic area.
But the appeal just got denied, and the reason behind it being that the “The submission is likely not permanent or distinct”? And that the chairs and tables are “temporary set up”. But i find it hard to see them temporary when some of them are bolted to the ground.
And the clarification post earlier said that the tables/benches does not even have to be chained/bolted down in to the ground to be deemed a valid picnic area.
Maybe i have missed something, because as i said earlier i am pretty new to all this
Welcome. You should put yourself in reviewer eyes that know nothing about your nomination. When i first look into the foto, what i saw is someone probably put his chair and table in the park and try to submit it as picnic area. If this is not true, you need to provide more evidence. Its true that picnic table doesnt need to be bolted to the ground, but what reviewer expect is bigger picnic table thats not easily moved around.
It isn’t possible to tell from these photos that anything is bolted to the ground.
This is an odd-looking picnic area, as it has a small table and chair set that you would normally find in a residential property or outside a cafe.
if the main table is actually permanent, it would help to use the web submit at Niantic Wayfarer so that you can include additional supporting photos, including a close-up of the ground fixtures.
The table and benches to the left are bolted to the ground, so cant be moved easily.
But i will resubmit my contribution with more clear images to clarify that they are permanent.
As a reviewer, none of those look bolted down. What goes through my mind is that the placement of the single bench to the picnic table is odd. A picnic table typically has two benches facing the table so a whole group can eat together and have a nice chat. This table has one bench at the table and one bench pulled off to the side. I question why any park would bolt that second bench down away from the table. It seems more rational to me that the benches (and probably the table) are not bolted down and someone moved the second bench to the side for some reason.
That’s not a reason for me to reject it, but it’s a reason for me to scrutinize what the submitter has said since they claim it is all bolted down. If i was the submitter, i would move the second bench back to the traditional placement to make it a more social picnic table setting.
