How do you treat plant or tree Infographics, like a metal plaque that says info like Scientific Name, Location etc. infront of said tree/plant. As a biologist I may be biased (because I think they are very cool and such) so I would want your honest opinions
Welcome to the forums ![]()
I have a problem with seeing them as distinct when there are lots of them scattered around a small place. Labels for the areas of a garden are one thing, but labels for individual plants are difficult.
I like them when they are distinct locations on an educational trail or something like that. Where every plant is marked, I agree that they lose their significance.
I mean I see your point and I dont like them if they are just simple signs but I like to see them for for individual plants if they have more info beside Scientific Name.
Like a full-on infographic, with info like flowering and fruiting dates, uses for said plant, where and how does the plant grow best.
My local community wants to do like 3-4 for some important plants that represent our city (economically and socially) that are like scattered but on the main road and appointed me to make those plaques (at least the info) and was curious if they can be a Pokestop ![]()
This would be a professional installation, and not just a homemade sign? I think the more information the better on these special plants, and that does sound eligible. Would have to see it to give better advice.
Adding this link as to why I asked if it was a professional installation:
If the labels are being put in to improve the community, they are more eligible than if they are being put in to get wayspots.
I mean, the wayspots would be a side thing, I am the one that does just the info part (not the design or installation part) and aren’t made to get wayspots. I was contacted by somebody if I am willing to help with this project and of course I said yes, I love plants, and was curious if they could qualify ![]()
Even if they are accepted, there is another step in the process to becoming a Pokestop. Are you aware of the community observations on how S2 cells are used in this process? https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/
Welcome.
I have had good luck with getting these accepted Most of mine are rather simple, stating not much more than the common and scientific name of the plant being identified.
To me, they’re to botanical gardens what trail markers are to parks. Yes, especially when there are a lot of them they lost distinctiveness to a certain degree, but still qualify under exploration. Also like trail markers some may struggle with being judge as permanent by some reviewers.
Most of the markers I have had approved are in one of two locations: a local arboretum, and a university campus. The campus is also officially designated as an arboretum and they take great pride in the collections of plants around the campus.
I’ve attached images of a few of my accepted ones. Each is slightly different in style and what information it gives.
