I did not see a specific category for outdoor ride, but it is similar to an amusement park ride, and artistic enough to be a sculpture as well. this is an iconic piece of the local culture here.
The location is in front of the grocery store Market Basket in Rochester NH.
It has been here so long that my grown children rode on int when they were kids and now my grandchildren do, so I don’t get the not permanent comment. And it is pretty unique. I know other grocery stores in the world have rides in front of them. I have in fact found some are already pokestops.
As I look on your photo, I can see that you’ve taken this photo from very far away. Or is this only the supporting photo?
Can you provide how it got rejected? Was it an automatic rejection or a rejection from reviewers? You can see at the rejection reason of your submission if it says “rejected because of wayfarer criteria” or if there is a specific rejection reason.
If your photo you showed us is the real photo and not the supporting photo I assume that it was automatically rejected because I think that the machine learning (automated system) would never see the carousel in the back.
In general without context a carousel like this seems very temporary and seosonal and like a marketing attraction for the market. In my opinion this is illegible but it could be egible if you could prove that the object stands for itself. Could you provide the main photo to us if this was only the supporting photo?
The categories you select when nominating do not equal eligibility. There’s things on there such as Primary School which are not eligible.
You do need to select something as a category but doesn’t mean they’re a list of eligible things. Or that if something isn’t on the list, it can’t be eligible
These can be acceptable. Can we see a screenshot of the first part of the nomination? If you have the submission email, the gps coordinates from after the photos can be helpful, too.

I would still like to see the gps coordinates from the submission email if you have them. An iffy location pin could have had people looking for a reason to reject.
Rejecting for text for the capitalization is harsh. Do you get different rejection reasons when you refresh the page? If you resubmit you could shorten the description to have less for reviewers to take issue with. Maybe “Old-fashioned ride on toy in front of the Rochester Market Basket” or something like that.
There is a recognizable face inside the window, so maybe try with a different photo at a different angle.
If you can find out anything about the history of the carousel, that could add to the nomination. Maybe try searching for an article featuring the carousel to link in the supporting. But even if you can’t, point out that it is bolted down for a new submission. It might also be helpful to take your supporting photo horizontally to provide more context as to the position in the store front.
You could also appeal this rejection. We have 2 appeals, each on a 15 day counter before we can use them again. I don’t know how they would feel about this, especially with that face in the background. But I think I would try a new submission first.
