I’d rather ask for clarity first since it was already approved by Niantic and then approved for removal by Niantic. And not get hit with a ban for trying to circumvent Niantic’s decisions. ![]()
Are you sure its not removed because of property owner request? If you go onsite and look into submission page , if its still appear as “!”, it probably removed as pokestop/gym by propery owner request
It’s public property. The council has not asked for removal.
Yea. Sry miss this one. Better wait
You can appeal its reinstatement in the appeals area of this forum and post evidence that it is still there.
Not meeting criteria is not on of the reasons why something should be removed. There has been no change around parks.
The only thing I can think of is that there was an owner request for removal. That could be from the owner of the park area which could be link to resident complaints or if the pin placement was near enough to some houses then a home owner could have complained directly.
Well if you happen to passby the location you can check if its still there or no. If its totally gone, mean its reported for removal
Thank you! I’ll look into it and attempt another appeal here.
These spaces annoy me to some extent. The council has no idea what the green space will actually be used for. Ball games aren’t allowed at some (such as this one), very few people will sit there to have a picnic (the surroundings aren’t right), there’s very few places to sit (the only bench shown is facing away from the greenery and probably has a worthless view), there’s no planting, just trees and mown grass (referred to in the industry as a green desert).
With a little thought, and no more money, these spaces could be much more interesting and better for interaction with.
Every piece of public mown grass /allows/ this, just as every bench /allows/ you to be social (sit down and talk to people). Doesn’t make it a great place for it ![]()
I see it as one of those “Could be used for…” not “created to be used for…”.
Will often see younger kids playing together but there is no infrastructure to facilitate this, it just happens to be a green where parents can keep an eye on them.
Agreed. UK councils could do so much better with them to make them more usable. But they generally don’t have the money to do more than mow the grass and throw a bench on it. That’s why they started the fund program to try and make pocket parks better. I look forward to that happening across the entire UK.
I know this has been resolved, but I just looked here on Streetview and there’s cars parked on this “pocket park”. I’m a little speechless that this was accepted by appeal reviewers.
Mowing grass throughout the year is actually fairly expensive for councils! It would be cheaper to have wildflowers etc and mow it a few times a year, but this requires considered thought and coping with inevitable complaints from residents that the grass hasn’t been mown.
Thank you for the clarification. I was only told what I have stated in the opening post. So appreciate you taking the time to reply.
Exactly. Which is why it’s clearly meant for recreation as opposed to many other areas which have had the mowing stopped to curate nature habitats.
Agree with you on this one, this is 2 small greens with a tree on each. Looking around the area there are several others. 200m along the road another set of 2, another 100m there is a larger area. On the opposite side there are 3 streets all with greens.
It is however a public green. And was created for residents to have a public space to play. Otherwise the houses wouldn’t be subset to create the small play area.
Just for fun, I checked streetview. All 13 images over the past umpteen years. Admittedly there’s very few pedestrians in any of these images, but there’s never anything happening on this space. Not even anyone walking across. It’s a large wasted green space with nothing to recommend it.
It was not created for people for play. It was deliberately left as green space so that there is greenery in the area. This is not a play area.
(Added: just because somewhere isn’t created as a play area doesn’t mean people can’t play there.)
You are welcome to come argue that with the people using it otherwise. The sign specifically only exempts ball games.
