When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:
Title: The Village of Abercorn
City: Port Wentworth, GA
Country: USA
Address: 236 Madison Pl, Port Wentworth, GA 31407, USA
Additional Information: Pokestop accepted 7-2-2026 and either today or yesterday removed. Would just like clarification why it was removed. Next to the Parkers Gas station but and open area by it to safely interact with it. If valid it’s fine, just curious. Top is the support photo, bottom is main photo.
Can you double check the coordinates where this went live? Do you still have the submission email? The gps coordinates will be after the photos if you do. The address you linked takes me to someone’s home. I believe this may be the sign in street view here?
That could be a different sign though, because I can’t read it from that street view.
(Not staff, just trying to help you address what may have happened for your appeal.)
Hello, thank you for answering. If by sign you mean (Zoomed in) the gas prices sign it would be on the opposite side. If you mean the sign that looks like it got knocked down that’s the sign itself but it was moved from that spot into the new spot since a utility truck had hit it the first time it was ingame but I can confirm the sign itself isn’t gone, just moved from when street view took the photo of it.
It might not be 100% as I don’t have the submission email (I do have the submission accepted email though) but this should be very close to it. Had to use Maps to get the general lat/long of it but it should be very close.
I see Scopely Explore have confirmed the removal. The website for this plaque gives the location as:
“Tips for Finding This Marker: On GA 21, just north of Plantation Road in Port Wentworth.”
I haven’t found it on streetview, but it is extremely unlikely to exist near the gas station, based on that location description, as there are closer things to reference (e.g., Moore Rd) than a side road nearly one km to the south.
if it really has been put there (and anywhere round here is plausible as Abercorn Creek is just as far from the gas station as it is from Plantation Road), a video would provide much better evidence than a single photo.
Make sure the video ties back to what can be easily seen on streetview and try to include something definitely current - the gas station itself might work as this was grass and trees in 2022.
@salixsorbus it won’t let me upload the video here but I did take some more pictures to show you it DOES indeed exist near the gas station claimed to “unlikely exist”. But I did find a website that will let me upload the video, except it only last for 48 hours according to the website.
@NianticAtlas i uploaded more photo proof and have a video but it won’t let me upload it. Not trying to argue but may I ask why it was removed for future reference?
With luck, Scopely Explore staff will see the new evidence before it expires.
(Without using YouTube, I would probably upload a video to Google Drive, make sure that document is public and then copy-paste the link to it.)
I suspect the removal was because there was no evidence of this plaque existing where the wayspot is; you have provided new evidence so this should get reviewed again.
The link that I posted about 36 minutes ago? Yes I’m sure. Just checked the link myself and the video is there to make sure nothing happened to it.
Also as for the verifying its location. The video shows not only the Waypoint but the surrounding area as well along with previous supporting photos. Not really sure how much more “proof” can be given. As someone who’s made hundreds of nominations when I’m nominating any Waypoint I always put myself in the reviewers shoes.
I feel that video is solid proof of the POI at this location at the current time. There is a possibility it cannot cover is that the op picked up the post from where it actually is in order to put it here, but that is fairly hard to categorically discount. There is also a possibility of AI-generation, but there is no evidence of that.
What is it about that video that makes you uncertain?
Well i cant open the link. Never use that web before. Probably blocked by my govt . Thats why i ask if the link is correct. Thanks for chrcking the video
