The name of the game is Pokemon GO, so I don’t think it is unreasonable to expect you to have to leave your home to play. There are other Pokemon games you can buy if you want to stay inside.

Wayfarer does allow you to submit potential pokestops, which is great opportunity. However not everything will meet the criteria of what is suitable. It is not designed to just give everyone that plays something to spin when home.
The Pokémon Go team are responsible for where and how interaction points appear in their game, and as the fundamental is go outside to play, that is what the design expects you to do.
