Power Spot Relocation After Accepted Nomination

There was already a power spot before I submitted our pool house.

Our pool house was accepted and rather than showing up on the map as a pokestop and/or gym, the power spot shifted from where the emoji finger is to now it’s current location which is the pool house.

Why did this happen instead of a pokestop or gym being added?

Welcome to the forum.

Did this happen yesterday, July 4? There have been reports that the daily Pokemon Go sync of pokestops and gyms did not happen yesterday, but the monthly Power Spot pool update did.

If the pool house is pokestop eligible, it should be upgraded the next time the Pokemon Go sync does happen.

It shows the dot is “not in game yet”.

Is this what you mean about the Pokemon GO sync?

Which days are the days Niantic syncs their map data? Any ideas?

4th of July / I submitted and got approval prior to the 4th. The 4th just happened to come up after the fact.

Pokemon Go normally has a sync of new wayspots that are eligible to be Pokestops (or gyms) every day around the same time. It is a process that rolls out rather than happening all at once. It usually happens around 8 hours (give or take) from now. If eligible, the status will be corrected the next time a sync happens.

The addition of wayspots that are not pokestops/gyms into the pool of available power spots usually happens once a month on the 4th of the month. That process seems to have happened as expected from reports I have seen on the Wayfarer Discussion Discord.

If you would like to give the gps coordinates or a street address, I can try to confirm whether this Wayspot is Pokestop eligible. This is a good article explaining the inclusion rules: https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/

Nothing I have said here is in an official statement from staff, just community observation.

28.573250, -80.819301 ( It’s officially on the wayfarer map currently identified as, “Not in game” ) This is the pool house.

28.571065, -80.818812 ( Gym )

28.571191, -80.817503 ( Pokestop )

28.571425, -80.816437 ( Pokestop )

28.572466, -80.824771 ( Pokestop )

28.571292, -80.820242 ( Accepted but not on the map yet ) This one is the bridge.

These are all of the closest coordinates around me. I don’t go to anything further unless it’s every once in awhile in a vehicle.

There is 2 “Syncs”…

  • The first Syncs is from “Wayfarer” to the “Map” that shows what new wayspots have been accepted.
  • The second is when “Pokemon Go” updates what each new wayspot is being used for and any updates to previous wayspots such as “Promoted to Gym”.

Can you check in game whether it has appeared?

Even if not I would give it another 24 hours before starting to worry.

Good Luck.

I don’t see anything preventing this from going live as a pokestop fwiw. You should be in the same time zone as me, I think, so check again around 2:30pm. Let us know if you haven’t seen it by 3pm. :crossed_fingers:

This one should also sync in as a pokestop the next time there is a sync.

The very first post when I created this thread shows a screenshot of what it looks like in the game. The only thing that has changed is the location of a power spot that shifted a few feet over from its original location to what I submitted, which is a pool house.

I noticed that in game which is why I came and shared my inquiry with this community thread.

What you’re looking at is a pool house.

There is no grill station. There is no cornhole.

It’s a grassy field with nothing interesting.

Across the way is another apartment complex with a pool on wayfarer as a Gym with 2 other poke stops.

I’m asking about the new submission I made. Not what’s in my area that can be used for submissions later.

I provided coordinates of what was already in the area plus my 2 submissions.

My first submission is the pool house which I was curious why the power spot shifted into my submission space.

The 2nd I have no questions about but included the coordinates because it was community accepted on wayfarer.

In that case I can only assume it’s a matter of timing.

As usual it was accepted in to the database as “Not in Game”.

We have reports that the normal daily sync that would have turned it in to a Pokestop / Gym was skipped.

In the meantime we have had the monthly powerspot sync that has seen a “Not in Game” and accepted it as a powerspot.

I would expect that the next daily sync will correct it.

Give it another 24 hours, check here for any reports of another skipped sync and if that went ahead then check again.

I think it’s just a case of allowing the system to catch up.

Good Look.

Apologies for answering the wrong question. I have removed my suggestions.

We don’t know how the game decides which Wayspots that are not in Pokemon Go as Pokestops or gyms will be used as active Power Spots. I don’t know why the game decided to shift the active Power Spot to your recent nomination. The other one is still showing as in the available pool to be used:

When your Wayspot goes live as a Pokestop, it will lose it’s Power Spot status. I believe this happens immediately, but have not witnessed that myself.

The dot has changed from, “not in game” to “in game” for the pool house.

It’s still a power spot. lol!

The bridge is my other new submissions on the bottom left. The dot appeared within the last 30 minutes.

The old powerspot is no longer there in the game.

I get that. What I showed you is that it is still in the pool of potential wayspots the Pokemon Go can choose powerspots from. The game shows the most power spots live at the same time on Max Mondays. It doesn’t show all of them at once.

I think we are using the same words to mean something different. I am explaining that Royal Oak Condominiums and Patio Homes is still in the database. I believe that you want to know why Royal Oak Pool House is now the active Power Spot instead of that one, and that is something I don’t believe the community can answer at this time. It may have to do with the Power Spot sync on the 4th that I mentioned in my first comment. Maybe the algorithm is set to make any newly added to the pool Power Spots go live first.

I appreciate your advice and response!

I’ve also been using GPT to guide me along the way. Its response lines up with yours. There is no way of actually knowing why an accepted nomination becomes the type of location that it is.

Even with having an understanding of S2 cells, using the POGO map & Wayfarer map combined, there is no definitive of what the submission will be.

Sure, I can count the number of Pokestops, Gyms & Powerspots around me but that’s doesn’t translate what the approved submission will become.

It would be nice if we had some kind of insight or selection logic on what we want the stop to become or what it will be however, it seems like that just isn’t the case.

Thank you to everyone who jumped in the thread with advice. I don’t have any more questions at this time.

LOL pokemongo.com map now has it as both a pokestop and a power spot at the same time. I would love to see a screenshot of what that looks like in game if you have a chance.

I’ve also just recently spotted this!

Check this out, it’s wild!

I’ve just recently started paying very close attention to detail on the aesthetics of in game transitions.

Does anyone see this? The pool house on both mine and my kids both show a mixture of what looks like a spinnable pokestop as well as rocket stop? It was black after defeating the dynamax.

Defeated the rocket and it’s just a defeated power stop.

However, there is a blue poke stop glitching in the center of it. I took a picture of my kids tablet and hers was showing the same thing.

The last screenshot is showing my last added pokestop. This is my nature bridge that was approved and immediately became a pokestop which is what I was hoping for. That’s a win!

Side note: The bridge in wayfarer still shows, “not in game”

Let me know your thoughts on what you see!

Whelp, here we are!

It’s officially a pokestop! :heart_on_fire::sign_of_the_horns:

This has been fun y’all! Have fun out there!
