Powerspot imports being repurposed

They really need to have some text that says “Trying to be helpful by updating this wayspot to be what’s actually there instead of deleting it could result in account suspension” right in the app.

This is the very definition of Repurposing. Report it to be removed if what it states to be isn’t there.

I get this. I mean, a blank photo with the wrong name on it at a random location could easily be seen as a correction to most explorers. “For the next Gigantamax raid, head to the “Wendy’s” PowerSpot at the Burger King,” gets confusing.

I wish these did not come through our review flow since they are not true Wayspots.

I understand the definition of repurposing.

I’m saying that users trying to be helpful and getting suspended for it without a clear warning or explanation in advance is terrible policy.

I agree - what looks like a common sense approach is actually proving to be very dangerous

I’m kinda glad I won’t have to see them in Recon.

I would just choose Abuse and leave a comment, as that’s what I do.

Personally I just reject it

That does nothing to tell staff that the Power Spot needs to be looked into though.

Scopely can wait for removal request if there is any issue. But for photo, i just reject if i see it

We’ve moved on from just talking about photos. You can still report from removal using the Report Abuse link.

I guess I just feel uncomfortable reporting the editor for abuse when the power spot was always trash and they didnt do anything obviously wrong (to them)

What I want is a no-fault report option to just say the correct “edit” is removal

But they didn’t follow the proper guidelines, so they did do something wrong by trying to repurpose instead of request removal. They may not know that they should request removal, but this is something that Wayfarer can educate them on.

No, it wasn’t always trash. Years ago, it could’ve been a popular local restaurant, then an abandoned business, later repurposed as a powerstop - but not trash :upside_down_face:

I have a request. I do not object to importing from other data and I do not blame you for including incorrect data. However, many users do not come to this official forum and the majority of them do not even know it exists. Most people do not know that rewriting a powerspot is a violation.
Please be proactive and let all users know about these bans, if it is X, make a post from the official Wayfarer account and translate the content in a quoted post from the official PokémonGO account for all languages and it will be understood. If it gets through to many people, most people will know about it through re-communication. Best regards.

Not just X. Put it in game. Serve people popups when they click the “upload” and “edit” options to tell them.

Not everyone uses social media. Link it directly to the in game actions that are linked to Wayfarer.

Half the power spots in my town are duplicates of existing wayspots only at an entirely wrong spot they’ve never been anywhere near.
