Hi everyone. I’m tired of having my PokéStops automatically rejected. I moved to a new neighborhood and I’m trying to suggest new PokéStops, but they’re all being rejected. I don’t know if the automated system is malfunctioning, but it’s really annoying.
I’m leaving you with an example so you can judge for yourselves what I did wrong that made the system mark it as incorrect. Sorry, but the proposal is in Spanish…
Welcome to the forum! I’m sorry that it’s frustration bringing you here.
One immediate tip I can give you, which may not necessarily help with the ML reviews, is to focus your supplemental information on what makes the nomination a good wayspot, in terms of the exercise/socialize/explore criteria, rather than your need for pokestops. Reviewers are looking for you to walk them up to the criteria and explain what makes this an eligible and awesome wayspot.
Hi @darkersolstice! Thanks for your response.
My point is: why the automatic system is rejecting this? I mean… i dont get it.
You are right about giving a longer comment on why i propose my PokeStop, but that was the reason behind?
We don’t know exactly what the Machine Learning model rejects for.
This is not something I would have submitted, as it does not seem to be Unique Art but a decal in a window.
You do get 2 appeals, each on a 15 day counter before you can use them again, if you want a human reviewer to look at this again, but I don’t think I would appeal this. Unless you provided information about the artist or something else that makes this important in the description we don’t see. Or can add that to the appeal statement.
I dont know if this cause rejection. But You might want to take another photo without human reflection. You want to make sure that your submission have better chance during appeal.
On the other hand, the object doesnt really look like art. It would be better if you give more detail about it.
Lastly it would be better to remove all pokemon go terms.wayfarer is being used by multiple game, not just pokemon go
Interesting to read this as I was coming to see if anyone else has had this - I did some new noms on Saturday, and all but one were auto declined. One of them I thought might need to be an appeal job anyway due to it having “hospital” in its title (I know this can cause auto decline) but the other 2 I was surprised at as one is a community allotments site (definitely not already a wayspot) and the other was a trail marker. Admittedly I thought the latter was a 50/50 for the community on accepting it, but they’ve accepted similar lately and it was in an area where there’s virtually nothing around so I figured nothing to lose by giving it a go - I just didn’t anticipate the ML wouldn’t even let it go to the community!
I’m finding the ML really hit or miss at the minute. A few weeks ago I nominated a few things in different parts of town, but were essentially the same things. Titles and descriptions the same apart from a road name change. Bear in mind the community had accepted a few of these previously too. The day after nominating, I had an auto accept for one of them and an auto decline for the other - I don’t understand how one could not be adhering to Wayfarer guidelines but the other one was?! I also don’t understand why sometimes it sends these noms to the community and other times it doesn’t. I’ve tried looking back at the wording and photos to see if there’s anything obvious but there really isn’t.
If a nomination gets rejected within a day, there’s likely a decisive reason.
Two things came to mind when I reviewed your nomination.
First, this is a medical center. Hospitals tend to get rejected in community review, except for imports by the Wayfarer team. That probably applied here.
Second, prohibited words and phrases.
The list of prohibited words and expressions used by Wayfarer is very rudimentary for languages other than English. If your nomination matched any of these, it could have been automatically rejected.
I thought that but it was definitely a “team” acceptance 22 hours after I submitted! I had just assumed the auto accept had been fixed and turned back on.
Just to be clear for other wayfinders the phrases here could be misleading.
This can give the impression that the full nomination was reviewed, however all that has been considered are the brief details given by @SweetnSassy37 so there is a limit to what inferences can be made.
General points
We don’t know how exactly the automatic assessment system ( nickname Emily) comes to a decision as to whether to reject a submission or allow it to pass to community review. It appears to assess the nomination as a whole. This means that although 2 submissions are very similar in terms of descriptions the photos will be different and those small differences may result in variation in the outcome.
It is deeply frustrating when Emily rejects a carefully crafted nomination. I recently had one rejected that I thought would be so was resigned to it happening, but also one that passed to the community which I was pleasantly surprised by. So you just can’t be sure.
What is clear that on the occasions that Emily has not been working the experience of seeing the nominations that normally get auto rejected is not good.
That reply quoted was to the OP I thought who provided a lot more information. My noms were an allotment and trail marker that I mentioned surprise at. I didn’t bother including more info as there’s very little point, I will likely appeal the allotments when I get an appeal back, and try to improve the trail marker one as it wasn’t a great nomination looking back at it, I need to find a link to the trail etc.
