I’ve been looking to improve the waypoints that are in my general area, as it looks like many of the games are not played around this area, and new landmarks have been added since Go started. One particular Stop I noticed appears to be in a wrong location - it shows on a footpath, but it’s actually up on a lookout about 50m away.
I did notice the erroneous Stop was actually located around an existing landmark, so I was going to submit another waypoint. However, I just noticed that the correct landmark has been submitted in that area, but it’s marked as Not In Game on the Map view. If I were to relocate the erroneous Stop to where it should be, will the waypoint that isn’t in game make itself available? Currently, the one In Game and the one Not In Game are in close proximity to each other, and if the In Game one is removed, the Not In Game one will be alone.
You can use help chat to make genuine location edits. Go to https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/help where a chat box will pop up in the lower right corner. If the correct physical location is not obvious on maps, they may need evidence.
Note that they will not make moves just to manipulate what is used in Pokemon Go, which is not what it sounds like you are trying to do. And they may make a decision to remove the Wayspot if they do not think it meets criteria.
For added context:
Stop A is the incorrectly-positioned stop at -28.850675, 153.599659
Stop B is the waypoint currently not in game but in the right position at -28.850458, 153.599678
Stop A should be located somewhere west of another waypoint - Stop C - at -28.851612, 153.599365. Hard to get a good visual, so I’ve made a crude drawing of where Stop A is and where it should actually be. Mostly just curious about what will happen if this stop is moved, if A and C would be too close and one would get removed (C is currently a Gym), and if B would become active as a result of relocating A.
The moved stop will enter the cell filled by the gym and the stop will dissappear. The hidden waypoint will become a pokestop. So net neutral and no change to your gym. The moved one will also be likley to become a powerspot in the future.
Ahh, a shame, but makes sense. I’ll see to it when I’m next in that area, depending on how nice the mobile data wants to be - along that whole path is iffy in terms of connection quality.
Although, I did notice something a bit odd: turns out that the “Not In Game” waypoint is already a Power Spot, but the Wayfarer map doesn’t say so. There’s a Power Spot in Go with a matching name to the waypoint.
