I’ve been getting more involved with using Wayfarer recently and reading up on the various criteria numerous times for my own submissions and reviewing.
I was sure that I’d read something encouraging users to avoid POIs within 40m of residential locations.
On mentioning this with my local community, other players weren’t aware of it.
I’ve tried to look it up to share the exact wording, but now can’t find mention of it in any of the criteria pages.
Did I imagine this, or has it been changed to not be relevant now?
You are probably remembering the fallout from the time in 2016 when Niantic got sued because people were trespassing. Afterwards as part of the settlement they agreed to remove any waypoint within 40m of private property at the landowner’s request. They told players to never submit or approve anything on private single family property and to be very careful when submitting within 40 m of such. They never forbid it but just warned people to be careful.
