Should I request an investigation into this Wayspot via an Abuse Report?
The Wayspot under consideration for a report is an office of a typical electrical contracting company. When I received a photo review for this Wayspot and tried to add two images, I checked the Wayfarer map to verify it. I discovered that it was a community nomination and had been approved on July 1, 2026. The description only states something minor, like “in business for many years.” I believe it is impossible for such a nomination to be accepted through normal community review or the appeals process.
When we are reviewing nomination, sometime we stumble upon suspicious nomination and /or accepted wayspot. You are free to report them for investigation but before you report it, make sure to check if its really suspicious/fake. The last thing you want is to flood niantic staff with unverified abuse report.
Generally, if the report is valid, then reports of additional wayspots give Niantic more useful information. Putting these together into a single report is best, but obviously this isn’t always possible.
From the email i receive if i report abuse, i can see multiple names already. So the one who receive your current report might not handle the old report. I also have no idea how staff handle the report. So i am guessing you should at least insert old report ticket number if you want to link them all together
