Rejected appeal is legit but warning was for wrong reason?

I submitted for a new electrical box in my city and electrical boxes are very common spots. This one is a series of math equations and was done by a community student. I thought it was

on a public section of sidewalk, But was rejected for being on school property. I guess it’s just over the border so that’s fine and my location was not accurate. That’s all fine but I received a warning because it looks like one of the reviewers says that the spot contains abuse, which it does not.

Is it possible for the warning to be removed?

Hello and welcome @quarnian
It’s not obvious where the best place is to post and I think this would be better in General Discussion as appeals is highly specialist :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

You mention a warning. Could you show us a screenshot. Then we can help determine if it was an educational email or an official warning.

If it is on the border of school property, even a little bit, then that is not allowed. The boundary of the school counts as school property.
You also say your location was not accurate, that is also not ok.
It’s also not clear whether this is official endorsed art or if it vandalism.

So there are several problems with this submission. If you give us an idea of the location we can help look around for something to submit.

Hey @quarnian

Welcome to the wayfarer community.

It look likes this image did not get the time to fully upload. Could you please try again and give it some time to upload? Once the actual image is seeable in your message it is good to go.

Couple of points to adress here:

  1. This was reviewed by the wayfarer team and not a local reviewer.
  2. The abuse rejection reason can be triggered for many reasons, in your case the inaccurate location.
  3. Did you receive an Email about the warning?

Lastly, you can also wait for staff who usually send you a DM with all the details if neccesary.

Good luck.

Thank you so much for your time in responding! I am brand new at this so I really appreciate the helpfulness, especially because there are so many other similar posts!

@AMG7070 , thank you as well! I will address both of your comments below!

–Good to know about where to post this and I will do that in the future!

–I never thought about researching if this was officially sanctioned art by the city versus just students at the nearby school! Amazing point

–I think you are both right that it’s officially on school property even though it depicts Medford City history and math! It is next to a button to trigger the crosswalk so I figured it was city property.

–I didn’t realize that if you go to your wayfarer account and look at the submissions, there’s a comment from Niantic which hadn’t been included in their emails to me! That gives a lot of information:

And here was the email with the official warning but I’m not quite sure what it refers to:

Like I said, I am super new to this and though I started playing in 2016, I took a 6-year hiatus and now that my kid is old enough to enjoy it I downloaded it again and I remember I loved submitting stops when I played ingress so I wanted to learn again!

Sorry that these photos are at night but I just went right over after I got both of your replies and here is some more context for the electrical box. I wonder if it is completely owned by the school and it was students that painted it!

This is so informative. I was just really nervous when I got the warning because I know that after a few you can have your whole account deleted and I genuinely thought this was allowed. I previously submitted one for historic building and I appealed the decision and it was accepted.

Thank you both for all of your guidance and advice! Is there an official way to request that the warning be removed because I genuinely didn’t realize it was on school property and didn’t know about the officially sanctioned art rule?

I’m totally fine with this not being a stop and I learned a lot
