Submitted this fire hydrant (and two others) part of a series of painted fire hydrants in a local park. It was rejected with this reason in the photo… why? There are three others in the park approved. The category is literally in the submission categories.
I’ve submitted almost 600 approved stops but sometimes this automatic review process confuses the heck out of me.
Additionally, all three do not have the “appeal” option on the rejection. Again, don’t know why.
I believe these were clarified to be specifically ineligible as they could block access from emergency services.
Your appeal button will show up when you have appeals, they reset every 15 days. Don’t appeal this though.
The categories have nothing to do with eligibility and I wish they would remove that section. It is just for data purposes. You will find expressly ineligible listings there, too, such as “elementary schools”.
Niantic staff have made posts that these painted fire hydrants are not eligible in the past.

Ok I understand the reason (they’re rejecting them all) — don’t agree with it (I mean, for a pokestop nobody is standing there trying to spin or attack a gym if an actual fire is occurring) but… just weirdly inconsistent that half of them are approved for a while and these now aren’t. Guess I shouldn’t complain because they’ll take the other out of the game…

If a submission isn’t rejected by the ML system, this doesn’t mean it is eligible. Some things get accepted by reviewers which are not actually eligible, but they will only later get removed if someone reports them.
