Our neighborhood has three fountains and the first two are crowded with many Pokestops. The part of our neighborhood further back is completely empty of anything in Pokemon go but is a favorite for dog walkers and fishermen (photo shows map of pokestops with my suggestion in yellow). I submitted a close up photo of the fountain as the picture, and think this could be the reason for the rejection since the fountain is the same shape as the first fountain. Unfortunately, there are no other permanent landmarks at this pond to photograph. Any suggestions?

Description: A lovely little pond surrounded by greenspace that is a favorite of neighborhood families. Locals visit to watch the ducks, walk their dogs, and fish.
Additional info: There is a paved sidewalk along one side of this pond and a mowed greenspace that surrounds the walking path along to top rim of the pond. This area is available to residents and their guests.
These pond aerators have specifically been clarified as not eligible.
There are still a lot of old ones in game, but these will usually be removed if the Wayspot is reported. But the team is inconsistent on this, especially if the old Wayspot is pinned to a spot on land instead of in the water.
As far as submitting the pond instead of the fountain, it is very difficult to get a nomination accepted without a visual anchor point to know when you have arrived. That will often get a “not distinct” rejection. Is there a sign or something else you could use?
oooh. Yep looks like the majority of the neighborhood is in a suburban desert. No mini parks, no public activity area, no trails, not even a bench. Just row upon row of single family private property. Adding to the park up the street is going to be your best bet. Check out the benches around the pond and see if any were for someone significant to the community, not just Beloved Mom. This may take looking up obituaries for more info. Some may work as scenic rest areas with a good picture and better description. There is some kind of sign between the playground and the lake. See what that is about. Possibly work with the neighborhood and get a little free library installed in the park in an empty cell. I think there might be a park entrance sign on the north side from the culdesac. Its blocked from appearing in game by a pond aerator but that should be removed. Talk with the community board about making a running/exercise trail with mile markers (paint) on the circuit around the pond and even throughout the neighborhood. Could even be 1/4 mile markers if the trail system in short. Look at heart healthy trails set up around hospitals for inspiration.
