When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Additional Information (if any): This waystop nomination was rejected out of hand. Niantic already allows a private residence to be a full pokestop down the street from this nomination. The Carpenter House (33.0213640, -96.6966620) is also one of Plano’s historic houses, yet has been a privately owned residence since 2013. If this private residence is acceptable to become a pokestop then there is no reason the Roller House is not eligible as it is the only other historic Victorian house in Plano.

The Roller House is one of the oldest houses in Plano. It was the home of the founder of the city and is a unique and culturally relevant point of interest for the city. It’s part of a public walking tour that beings visitors right up to the house to view the unique architecture of old day Texas homes and educate them on the history of the town. There is easy and safe access on the sidewalks and it is only a short distance from downtown Plano, where there are many public gathering places and entertainment venues.

Hi, welcome! No, unfortunately private single-family residential property (I understand from your text it is one) is not eligible. It is a clear and unambiguous rejection criterion. If another one was accepted, that means that that one is incorrect, not that this one should be accepted too. The rejection is correct.

Hello and welcome,

Wayspots actually are not allowed on single family private residential property, or PRP for short. We do have clarification for this as well:

Ineligible location, place, or object

  • Location is a private residential property (even if historical), farmland, a K12 and under school (preschool, primary/elementary, secondary/high school), child care/daycare center, rehabilitation center, safety shelter

If this house is still privately owned, like the other house mentioned, it cannot be a Wayspot. If the Carpenter House is also privately owned, a removal request should be made to remove the Wayspot for being on private property.

You may want to review Wayspot criteria as well, as what you see on the map doesn’t always meet criteria. You can find more info on criteria here:
