Removal of Pokestops regarding extremist figures

I tried to get a stop removed because it is a painting inside a private business of a very partisan personality that has no connection with the ice cream store or locality. I can’t send the gifts from that pokestop to anyone, especially children and many people agree around here and won’t send them.

Is there a reason that no one can get a pokestop of a person globally seen as divisive and not in the spirit of Pokemon out of the game? There are plenty of nearby pokestops.

Hey @Timeywimey1234 ,

Thank you for taking the time to write in regarding this game location.

The purpose of our games is to create an augmented reality experience that is interwoven with the physical world. For this reason, our platform reflects game objects that currently exist in reality. Scopely Explore does not take a stance on locations, but rather leaves these decisions up to local communities. Any changes to locations in the physical world will be reflected in our games. We encourage you to contact your local community regarding the location in question.

Because of the reasons stated above, we stand by our decision to not retire the Wayspot.

Best,

Most people in the actual community don’t know this picture exists inside this building. I only know because of this pokestop.

I just know no one can send the gifts from the pokestop which is embarrassing. It takes extra time as I have to manually delete the stops when my pokeball collects them then re-spin extra stops.

I know other players who live in the area have the same issue.

I know not every wayfarer person agrees, and have had heaps of nominations not accepted despite being very ordinary- but I’d stood up for others against cyber bullying in pokemon.

If I named my trainer what this person says it would be removed from the game - but I can’t remove a pokestop that an extremist has made of them? it’s ridiculous.

I don’t use any sort of device to play the game other than my phone and it doesn’t spin any Wayspot I don’t want it to. That might help avoid this issue.

That isn’t a good solution for people who are using an authorised device to spin pokestops and catch pokemon.

I’m disabled, so it’s easier to use the pokeball for spinning so I can focus on catching as my hands are bad. I’m pretty slow, but I’ve still managed to get to level 78 despite using a walker etc.

But having a stop that stands for hatred that you can’t send to other ppl, just seems wrong. I couldn’t name a trainer after what they say, they wouldn’t be allowed in my country, cos their values are at odds with with decency, but one extremist & friends can get a pokestop approved (along with random chairs & tables).

Sigh…

Is there a specific reason why you haven’t disclosed who the extremist is?

I assume you already try reporting and got rejected. You already post here and receive response from scopely staff. Please read here about removal criteria.

Just a guess, but there’s certain countries where mentioning certain historical figures or political movements is illegal unless it’s in an educational or historical context.
