Additional Information:

I am appealing the rejection of my removal request because this Wayspot does not meet current Wayfarer eligibility criteria.

Although this Wayspot is titled “Gold Basketball Hole #2,” it is not a basketball feature. It is actually a disc golf hole/target that has been intentionally misrepresented as a basketball golf hole.

Disc golf tees, baskets, and individual holes are not eligible as standalone Wayspots under current Wayfarer criteria. Renaming the object as a “basketball hole” does not change what it physically is.

The nomination description itself also references “one of the many activities,” but the physical object is a disc golf hole that has simply been given a misleading title in an apparent attempt to bypass Wayfarer eligibility rules.

This Wayspot should be removed because it represents an ineligible object that was submitted under a false identity.

There is another one in the vicinity that should also be reviewed for removal.

This nomination explicitly identifies itself as an individual disc golf hole, reinforcing that these submissions are for individual holes rather than an eligible course entrance, course map, or course information sign.

I am going to create another post for review because it appears I’ve stumbled across what could potentially be several examples of abuse in that immediate area with potential fake submissions as well as being on high school property.

Just taken a look and there are loads of new fake waypoints from 2 similar sounding account names.

The Disc Golf are in someone’s back yard.

Loads over the road on school property.

Statues taken from other locations.

I have reported some but I have run out of reports…

Yeah there are a bunch and I didn’t even know where to start. That Charizard statue screams abuse along with the descriptions being incredibly misleading. The high school just went through a multi-million dollar construction and they’re clearly taking advantage of the Google Map showing it still under construction. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything as calculated as this before.

I went ahead and submitted an abuse form. I don’t know how they go about it but hopefully they address all of the ones submitted by the two users recently because I didn’t want to manually grab every single one of the locations.

If this photo is accurate, it’s on high school property. Before I post a removal rejection appeal, I’m going to wait for the abuse report to go through.

Waypoints at schools are never allowed, even if the school says they are.

Do you go to the school? Do you know ever single space that is “school grounds” ? Its crazy to me that you study waystops so you can report them yet don’t know stuff like that

This makes clear that anything on school grounds is ineligible.

People who choose to participate in Wayfarer but not follow the rules risk having their game accounts banned.

The best way to keep other explorers from copying things that shouldn’t be in game for their own submissions is to get them removed when we come across them.

When you find a Disc Golf course and other items in peoples back yard you start to look.

On School Property is one of the big No in wayfarer but “Fake” wayspots is just as bad.

School property is easy to determine using OpenStreetMap

It seems you got greedy and got caught. Don’t try to blame others. This is down to you.

Very odd, very odd, have you ever talked to a william kelley graudte, student or staff :joy: like EVER. Did you go to silver bay for a 1 hour stay ?

Why does that matter?

Question 1: Did you nominate Fake location in the back yard?

Question 2: Did you nominate locations that are on School Property?

The answer to Question 2 includes a bonus question: Did you read the Criteria?

It is crazy that you nominated fake wayspots then get upset because you got caught.

No assume required, evidence is what got the nominations removed.

Please don’t jump to the conclusion that I hunt down stops to report in unfamiliar places. Every stop I have ever reported is within 30 km of my home and were in places that I am familiar with.

I did not personally report these.

And yes I know that sometimes it’s not as simple as the property lines on a map - I was a Catholic school kid myself and there isn’t a legal boundary between my school and my church. But those of us who have been there know which buildings are used for what. (And I nominated four out of our five stops myself… and all of them are AT LEAST 10 m away from anything used for school purposes.)

I was just referring to the Wayfarer rules - schools are forbidden. Period. It doesn’t matter if the school gave permission. That’s all I was saying.
