Request for Review of Wayspot Location Change Following Photo Contributions

I am requesting a review of a recent location change made to this Wayspot.

The Wayspot was originally accepted and appeared in Pokémon GO without any issues. Several days after acceptance, I submitted additional photos to help improve the Wayspot record by providing more views and angles of the field for other players and reviewers.

Following the review of those photo submissions, I noticed that the Wayspot’s location had been changed. The original location was situated on the field near the entrance pathway that visitors commonly use to access the recreational area. This provided clear pedestrian access while still accurately representing the field itself.

The new location has been moved further into the field. From my perspective, the original location was a suitable representation of the recreational area and its public access point.

I have attached supporting evidence showing:

  • The current location.
  • The previous location.
  • The entrance pathway used to access the field.
  • Photos of the field and surrounding area.

I would appreciate a review of the location adjustment and ask that the original location be restored if it is determined to be an accurate representation of the Wayspot and its public access point.

The green circle shows where i originally had the pokestop placed that appeared in the game and was absolutely fine, and the red circle shows where its now been moved, meaning the pokestop is now removed from the game after i tried to help the nomination further by taking photos of the surroundings.

This satellite image also clearly represents the entrance pathway into the playground next to the green open field.

Based on community observations of behaviour, if it was in Pokemon Go previously then it would have been submitted to the right hand side of the vertical black line shown on the image below.

The current location seems like a more accurate location for the Wayspot. The location is centred on the goals (which are the only physical object), but also is placed in a spot where there is a safe pedestrian walkway which wouldn’t interfere with gameplay.

Given the distance it must have been moved (18 metres), it is likely that the move was submitted via a Help Ticket and Niantic were the ones who made the move. Niantic only make location edits when they feel that the new location is more accurate than the existing location.

I feel like you may have misrepresented this location, and I’m surprised the wayspot hasn’t been removed outright. As well as what @Tntnnbltn says about the original placement, this doesn’t appear to be a recreation field, but rather just a small green space which are very common in UK residential areas. This is something that’s popped up in other threads before and @elijustrying has commented on them, so I’m tagging her for another opinion on this.

Additionally, all the sports equipment in the photos appears to be store bought and easily removed, which would fall under the temporary rejection criteria. And that’s not to mention the fact I’m fairly sure there’s a visible number plate in at least one of the photos attached to the wayspot, which is another rejection criteria.

The same equipment is visible on Streetview from 2022, which indicates it is a long-standing feature. I would not reject for this reason.

That’s a completely different football net compared to the one in the pictures of the wayspot. They’re also in different locations.

I think calling it a recreation field is a bit too far of a stretch for what it is. I would expect a rec field to be a large open space, whereas this is a nice green square with a good play area for a smallish modern housing development. Having 1 wayspot for this space seems appropriate.
It’s great that the half is being used for play but I would not have been surprised if it was duplicated with the established stop. As Hank has said those look like items placed there by the community so could easily be removed. A positive is this place does seem to have a good community spirit.
I don’t think there is anything to be done with this specific wayspot.
This is not what the appeals section is for as it is a question now about location. So I will move it to nomination support.
We can look around and make suggestions.
