Wayspot Title: 烏日啤酒廠
Location / Coordinates: 24.110650, 120.625634
City / Country: Wuri District, Taichung City, Taiwan
Hi Niantic Team,
I am writing to request assistance in updating the primary photo for the Wayspot “烏日啤酒廠”.
The main entrance and landmark of the brewery have been significantly renovated. The current primary photo (showing the old stacked silver beer kegs) is completely outdated. A new, accurate photo showing the current colorful renovated look has already been submitted to this Wayspot’s gallery.
However, because the old outdated photo currently has 30 votes, it is impossible for the community to naturally cycle the new photo to the primary slot through regular in-game voting.
Could you please help set the newly uploaded, updated photo as the primary image for this Wayspot?
Note: Please DO NOT delete, move, or sync-remove this Wayspot, as it is a vital and active location for our local community (including Pikmin Bloom players who heavily rely on it as a Mushroom spot). We only wish to update its visual representation to reflect its current real-world appearance. Thank you for your help!
Welcome to the forums
The object that this wayspot represents was removed between 2020 and 2022.
What you are attempting to do is to repurpose the wayspot, which is not allowed.
Hello
,
Thank you for your reply, but I would like to clarify that this is not an attempt to repurpose an invalid Wayspot. It is a genuine on-site renovation and remodeling of the exact same facility.
Here are the facts regarding this location:
- Same Entity & Location: The location is the official entrance/landmark of the Wuri Brewery (烏日啤酒廠). The brewery has not gone anywhere; it simply underwent a major facility upgrade and rebranding into a “Tourism Factory” during the period you mentioned (2020–2022).
- Renovation, Not Removal: The original silver beer keg wall was removed solely to build the new, modernized colorful beer can wall and entrance sign at the exact same spot. It remains the main entrance feature of the brewery.
- Criteria Compliance: According to Niantic’s guidelines, when a permanent eligible landmark (like a brewery entrance) undergoes a cosmetic renovation or visual upgrade, it should have its photo updated rather than being deleted and recreated, as the core eligible subject remains completely unchanged.
This is a continuous, existing feature that was just remodeled for tourism. I am merely trying to update the photo to reflect its current, upgraded real-world appearance.
Hello and Welcome,
It sounds like this was Previously a standard working Brewery but has now changed to a Tourist Destination (A brewery museum, Brewery tours etc).
To me the original Brewery sounds like it should not have been excepted but the “Can Wall” could have been as “Art”, therefore as the wall has been removed the wayspot should also have been removed.
This is entirely based on my assumptions from how I have read your post so please confirm if this is completely wrong.
Good Luck
Hi @SlimboyFat71,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I appreciate your openness, but I would like to clarify a few things regarding how government-owned breweries operate in Taiwan, as it is a bit different from a standard private working factory.
Always Open to the Public:
Even before the rebranding to a “Tourism Factory,” this location was never just a closed production factory. It has hosted a large, permanently open-to-the-public “Product Promotion Center” (產品推廣中心) and a massive Taiwan Beer food plaza for decades. It has always been a well-known local gathering place and social hub for the community, which fully aligns with Niantic’s exploration and social criteria.
The Main Entrance Landmark, Not Temporary Art:
The original silver beer keg wall was actually the official main entrance signage/landmark of the brewery, not a standalone art installation. The recent renovation simply upgraded this official entrance sign into a more modern, colorful can wall to match its updated official title as a tourism factory.
Continuous Subject:
The core subject of this Wayspot is the official brewery entrance/landmark. The physical structure was updated on-site to improve the visitor experience, but its function as the main entrance to a public-vibrant destination remains exactly the same.
Therefore, updating the photo is the most appropriate action here, rather than removing a highly active and valid community location. Thank you again for your feedback!
Thank you for the response.
Please Note: I am not staff, I make no decisions.
The reason for my questions was that If I understood the situation incorrectly then staff may also. Your reply will give more information to staff when they take another look.
Good Luck.
Hi @mimomo221 ,
Welcome to the Wayfarer Community Forum.
I have removed the outdated entrance photos. The newly updated location image should now become the cover photo and will be reflected on the map once the changes sync. Additionally, the Wayspot has been moved to the building location.

建議你以後遇到類似的狀況,在更換照片完成後,可以一併申請更改標題
並將最新的資訊騰寫上去。
正常的審核員看到,在概念相同且不影響的情況之下,應該會同意你的要求。
In the future, if you encounter a similar situation, I suggest that after changing the photo, you also apply to change the title and include the latest information.
A normal reviewer should approve your request if the concept is the same and there is no impact.
I’d be very cautious about that. Folks should not be repurposing wayspots. If something has changed, it needs to meet criteria.
