Hello Wayfarer Community,
I am looking for advice on how to improve my nominations.
In my city (Phuoc Long, Binh Phuoc, Vietnam), there is an official government project called “Blooming Electric Poles” organized by the local Youth Union. They hire artists and volunteers to paint murals on utility poles to beautify the streets and prevent illegal ads.
Recently, my nominations (like the one below) were rejected by Niantic Internal Team with the reason “Vandalism/Graffiti”. and The text or photo contains abuse, ridicule, or harassment of a specific person or group"
I understand that the art style is simple, but it is definitely commissioned and official.
My question is:
- Is the rejection due to the low artistic quality of this specific painting?
- If I submit other poles with more detailed artwork (like flowers/landscapes), do I have a better chance?
- How can I prove to the reviewer that this is not random graffiti?
Thank you for your help!"
Can you share the pictures of the individual poles? It’s tough to judge the quality of what’s on the polls with that picture

I don’t like the appeal decision. You’ve provided the context and the proof, and if you were annoyed by that response, it’s understandable.
Provided you put the link into your supporting text, there’s not a lot more you can do to prove to reviewers that this is legitimate official street art. It’s quite likely that the condition of this one caused reviewers to have problems, but it is also clear that lots of these are being rejected.

I would love to dip in my opinion as these pole are usually and must be government work like volunteering to prevent horrible advertisement letter.
They are likely to stay there for a very long time because noone is going to mess with those pole.

I think you’ve got a few things working against you here.
First, the abuse rejection reason is likely because they thought your nominations were fake, not because they thought your nomination was offensive. It’s possible that your supporting photo wasn’t clear enough to indicate where the poles were in relation to the surrounding area?
The article is from 2020, which means that the artwork on those poles is over 5 years old. From the pictures, they look faded and worn down, which isn’t helping your cause. If I had to guess, this is what is holding back these nominations the most.
To be honest, other than having the poles repainted/touched up, I’m not sure what else to do with this other than get an app for your phone that embeds the gps coordinates into the picture and use that for your supporting photo?
The appeal response saying it’s graffiti when you provided the link seems counterintuitive…

I believe @TrungLatias had similar issues when he began submitting these. I would have thought reviewers would be familiar with these by now. These don’t appear to have been as freshly painted as the ones he showed us. This appeal rejection you showed us is wrong imo, and I hope will be overturned.

I got one that is rejected by Niantic reviewer pulling from voting(freshly painted), honestly after some interaction by now I wouldn’t bother appealing those..
