Hello,
Over the last few days, I have noticed that three PokéStops in my area have disappeared from Pokémon GO. One of those Wayspots has also been removed from the Wayfarer Map, and I suspect the other two may also disappear from the map once it updates.
I was wondering if someone could explain why these Wayspots were removed. As far as I know, they still meet the Wayfarer criteria and the real-world objects are still present.
I’m also becoming concerned because this isn’t an isolated case. Over the past few months, several other Wayspots in my area have disappeared as well. This has led me to wonder if someone may be repeatedly submitting invalid removal requests or otherwise abusing the reporting system.
I also want to mention that one of the Wayspots listed below had already been missing for some time. Because I believed it had been permanently removed, I accidentally submitted it as a new nomination. I later realized this may have been related to these removals. The nomination is already in voting, and unfortunately I can no longer withdraw it. I hope this won’t cause any issues with my Wayfarer account, as it was an honest mistake.
Could someone please look into this or explain what might be happening? I’d really appreciate any information.
Thank you!

We can confirm that these are not official hiking trail signs, and they are not the hiking trail route.
Hence, the Wayspots have been removed.

There is already a Wayspot for representing the information street signboard. Hence, this Wayspot has been removed.
mmm, strange, these signs are mentioned on their official site:
Hey there!
At the location you provided, there doesn’t appear to be an official hiking trail. The updated map is current as of July 28, 2026.

In Switzerland, there have reportedly been cases of fake trail markers, and this looks like it could be one of them. You definitely need to provide evidence that these markers actually exist at that location.
I would suggest submitting a video with close-up shots of the markers, showing how they are attached and the surrounding area, so the exact location can be verified.
Another option is to contact the local hiking trail organization to confirm whether official trail markers exist at the specified location. This is important because trail markers could potentially be removed from another location and temporarily installed by the submitter to create false evidence.

If there are fake trailmarkers in the area, a video won’t help, you will need official confirmation that the sign is intended to be at that location.
Hello @NianticOren
Thank you for the quick support regarding the two hiking trails. These are the official signs and trail markers, as user pokemaster4u2 already mentioned in the comments. I can’t explain why this trail is not shown on the website. To the best of my knowledge, the signposts and trail markers have been there for quite some time, even though I can’t currently see them on Google Maps. I have also noticed one or two other official hiking trail signposts in the surrounding area that are not shown on the online map either, so this does not appear to be an isolated case.
Would a video confirming the location be sufficient, as suggested in the comments?
Regarding the street sign: I read online that it is possible/allowed to submit the street signs located at both ends of the same street, so I submitted it based on that information. If this is actually not allowed, I kindly ask that the newly submitted sign, which is currently in voting as mentioned in the original post, be rejected. Otherwise, it may appear again, and I would prefer to avoid any issues resulting from my mistaken submission.
Edit: I just noticed the suggestion to contact the official authority responsible for the hiking trails. I’m not very confident that I would receive a response from them.
If a video is not sufficient as evidence, would contacting the authority be the only remaining option, or are there any other ways to verify the trail and its location?
I’ve only made positive experiences contacting authorities for such purposes and I’m sure they’ll be happy to help you prove this.
I have also noticed one or two other official hiking trail signposts in the surrounding area that are not shown on the online map either, so this does not appear to be an isolated case.
Please note that we do not proactively remove other Wayspots unless they are formally reported with sufficient evidence.
Would a video confirming the location be sufficient, as suggested in the comments?
As rightly mentioned by @pokemaster4u2 and @V1sionGrid , a video would not suffice as proof if a sign was artificially installed to create a fake Wayspot. In such cases, we require official documentation or confirmation from the relevant authorities to verify the legitimacy of the trail and its signage.
Regarding the street sign: I read online that it is possible/allowed to submit the street signs located at both ends of the same street, so I submitted it based on that information.
Additionally, please keep in mind that not all information found online or on third-party forums is accurate. We encourage you to refer to our official https://niantic.helpshift.com/hc/en/21-wayfarer/ for the correct criteria.

Thank you for the clarification and the tips regarding the hiking trails. I will try to obtain an official confirmation and would create a new post if I receive one.
Regarding the sign, I have just received confirmation that my incorrect resubmission has been accepted. Could this nomination please be removed, as there is already an identical sign at the other end of the street? Or should I request the removal in a separate post instead?
I apologize for the inconvenience. Due to my incorrect research and the information sources I used, I relied on unofficial information and mistakenly submitted the nomination again.
my incorrect resubmission has been accepted. Could this nomination please be removed
Yes, I have already removed it
