Signage around Company Campus - Wayspots rejected

Hello Wayfarer team,

I have a few nominations that I am working on for the grounds around and outside of my company’s campus. So far two have been automatically rejected, and I am hoping for advice/recommendations on how to improve them.

The first one is an “Adopt-A-Street” Sign outside of the campus, right off of the road and sidewalk. Coordinates are 38.9389654,-94.5317272

I believe that this is distinct as it is not a generic sign, but I tried to provide a second image showing that it is safe to go to the stop via sidewalk.

The second one is company signage outside of the front gate of the south enterance to the campus, it is also accessable and visiable from the sidewalks on both sides, but I don’t know if it would qualify as “unique”. The coordinates are 38.9388759,-94.5300378.

Myself and a few of my coworkers have been working to create more Wayspots in the area to make it easier and more enjoyable for people passing through the area, and employees and visitors. Please let me know what questions you have about the submissions, and any advice is appreciated. I would like to use my appeals wisely and not spam low quality submissions that get auto denied. From my understanding, neither of the submissions would have anything listed in the “Rejection Critieria”, they are both permanant, accurate, distinct, safe to access, and on public walking paths thus meeting the “Acceptance Criteria”, but I understand that they both may appear to lack depth to an AI system. There is lots of history in the area relating to the founder, Ewing Kauffman and that the company was originally Marion Labs, both of which are integral to Kansas City History, being a staple to the community and the foundation that the Kansas City Royals (Major League Baseball team) came from. I apprecaite your time and your assistance.

Thanks - Omega

Hello @OmegaDexion

It’s great that you are out there exploring and looking for new wayspots. It does sound like you have reviewed rejection criteria. But it doesn’t sound like you have the full grasp on what is eligible. There is more than just something being accessible and distinct. Eligible items need to meet one or more of being:

  • A great place to be social
  • A great place to exercise
  • A great place to explore

The adopt a highway and the company sign unfortunately do not meet the eligibility. Does your company have any historical items, such as a plaque or display for the founder or the history of the company? Do you have break areas with tables? Are there designated trails near by? Those would more closely meet eligibility and be easier submissions.

Hello,

Thank you for the advice, and yes inside of the company campus there are numerous locations that either myself or others has (or are working to) create wayspots that meet those criteria. I will continue to improve my Wayspot submission skills and try and produce high quality wayspots. Are there any more resources besides the criteria page on Wayfarer to learn more about what would/would not be sufficient?

The Criteria Clarification pages are one of my favorite resources.
