I’ve seen a couple of these story walk signs show up in my reviews lately and I’m curious, should each sign be accepted as a wayspot or just 1 wayspot per story. This seems similar to disc golf course tees which I used to approve based on existing wayspots, but then I learned that only 1 wayspot is to be accepted per course.
@Billy79786 Welcome to the community forum.
I’ve struggled wit the story walk and have come to the conclusion that they are more like trail markers. I accept them all to encourage trainers to finish the story. Disc golf on the other hand is a safety issue. I didn’t think that until I found out that a few of my group played disc golf. They have told me that they not only would not want trainers to be on the course playing a mobile game but getting hit with a disc can cause serious injury.
I agree with this, and building off of it, individual story walk pages have inherent individual exploration value, while a disc gold tee doesn’t stand out in any way except the number of the tee.
I understand the safety issue for the baskets/catchers after seeing that pointed out.
Personally, I’m more divided on the Tees. If I’m playing disc golf myself and waiting at a tee for a group ahead of me to move on, it could be nice to spin and catch a couple pokemon. I don’t see any safety issue there. However, I also wouldn’t want a group of people standing at a tee focused on their phones and delaying others from playing.
As far as individual exploration value, I would have to disagree in this Story Walk case. There’s 6 submissions in a row along a straight line across what appears to be a short distance. The last one that I was reviewing just has a picture of rain. In contrast, the disc golf courses I’ve played on cover a variety of terrain and offer different views. The tees themselves have the tee number and also a graphic that shows you where to go for the next basket.
Hello @Billy79786
I think you are comparing apples and pears.
It is in my view not a good idea to compare different types of wayspots.
It is best to stick to first principles when considering type of wayspot, and then of course the individual case.
Story book boards encourage exploration and are educational you are learning something at each board usually. I see kids running between them.one that I know of is quite spread out.
However I can imagine if there 4 right next to each other you could submit as one block or separate.
Reviewing it would be down to how this particular submision fitted the criteria
It is in the end abour that location.
Disc Golf: Criteria clearly lays out that there should only be 1 for the whole course.

Story Book Walks: IMO These are another of the grey areas. If they are in 1 spot then I would say they should be nominated as 1 but if you are meant to walk between them then I see no problem nominating them all.
To me they feel like trail markers, so I would nominate and accept each one… with one hesitation.
The stories on these story walks will change. So I could see some looking negatively on them as being temporary. As long as the “board” is permanent, I think they’re ok.
