Title Edit Appeal: Corvintető -> Corvin Palace

Uploading: IMG_4661.png…

Title of the Wayspot: Corvintető

Location: Blaha Lujza tér, Budapest (47.49623°, 19.06926°2)

City: Budapest

Country: Hungary

Proposed Title: Corvin Palace

(Note: I accidentally submitted the edit in ALL CAPS in the system, which might be why it was rejected. I am requesting the proper formatting here).

Reason for the Appeal:

The current Wayspot title (“Corvintető”) is severely outdated. “Corvintető” was the name of a rooftop club that permanently closed many years ago.

Since then, the entire historic building (formerly known as Corvin Áruház) has undergone a massive, multi-year complete renovation. The building has been restored to its original 1926 neo-classical glory and officially reopened as a modern mixed-use retail, office, and cultural hub under its new name: Corvin Palace.

The map and the Wayspot should reflect the current, renovated landmark rather than a closed nightclub.

Supporting Evidence:

  1. Attached Photos: I have attached a recent photo of the newly renovated building to show its current state, along with the screenshot of the rejected edit.

  2. Official Website of the renovated building: Corvin Palace

  3. International News about the renovation and the new “Corvin Palace”: https://hungarytoday.hu/world-famous-gastronomy-market-opens-in-the-renovated-corvin-palace/

Please update the title to Corvin Palace. Thank you for your help!

If you go to Niantic Wayfarer, you can get the actual co-ordinates, not approximate ones (there is nothing like this close to the co-ordinates you gave).

However, since the edit rejection was correct, appealing it is not necessarily the right response. Resubmitting a valid edit would be the best way to proceed.

so true i’m sorry
I corrected it

Ah…

Corvintető is a mural. It is not the building. If the mural still exists, it should be possible to change the name of the wayspot if it is not the mural’s name.

What you cannot do legitimately is replace the mural with the building while keeping the same wayspot.

if the mural no longer exists, it needs removing. Then you can submit the building.

Besides in game submitting, you can also use the form linked at the top here under Wayspot Removals. It can also be used for modifications.

The choices I have never match what I need to do, so I just pick one. I have been told that if I pick “Private Property” then the automated acknowledgement email won’t ask for my credentials as property owner. (I do not reply to the automated email if it asks that.) When you get to the text box, you can write in exactly what the issue is, and you will have a place to provide evidence, unlike with an in game edit submission.

(Edit - I see the conversation moved on while I was typing this. Will leave it up.)

Thank you so much for the quick reply and the detailed explanation!

Actually, as part of the massive renovation, there is a beautiful new mural/artwork right at the entrance now.

Since it’s in the exact same location, would it be possible to just update the existing Wayspot’s photo, title, and description to reflect this new, renovated mural?

To be completely honest, this Wayspot is a very famous and active Gym for our local community, and we play here a lot. I am very hesitant to report it for removal and start from scratch because the automated AI/ML filter consistently rejects almost all of my historic building nominations in this area. To make matters worse, I don’t have any Appeals left right now because I just used my last one on another rejected nomination.

Is there any way we can save this POI by updating it to the current entrance mural, rather than destroying a community Gym just to fight the AI again?

Sorry for the unhappy answer, but you cannot do this legitimately. That would definitely be repurposing.

Have you posted on here for assistance with the historic building nominations that are being rejected by the ML system?

This entrance art (not a mural!) looks very different to a building, so wouldn’t be treated as a building by the ML system.

Thank you for the honest answer! I completely understand, and I definitely don’t want to break the rules or do any illegitimate repurposing. I will go ahead and report the old, non-existent mural for removal in the game.

To be completely honest with you guys, before I knew about this ‘repurposing’ rule, I actually submitted a photo of the new entrance art to this existing Wayspot, thinking that was the proper way to ‘update’ the picture. (and it got accepted surprisingly fast! ) I didn’t realize that mixing the new art with the old POI was the wrong approach. I’ll make sure to request the removal of the whole Wayspot now to clear things up.

To answer your other question: yes, I actually just started another thread asking for help with a different historic building (the Grand Hotel Savoy) that keeps getting rejected by the ML! The automated system is really tough on historic European architecture right now.

That is a brilliant point about the new entrance art. Since it looks distinct from a standard building facade, it might actually bypass the ML filter if I submit it as a brand-new nomination. I will take some clear photos and try submitting it from scratch

If I was doing this, I would submit the new wayspot first, then report the old one for removal once it is accepted.

The old mural should not stop this entrance art being accepted.

okay thank you very much! :heart_hands:t3:
