After many years, a game shop in the Frankfort, KY, area had its name changed from “Moonlite Game Centre” to “TTD Cards”. One can verify this by looking at Google Maps near 38.175227, -84.898088 , and you can even see that in the map in the rejection of my appeal:

Their Facebook page is facebook.com/ttdcardsfrankfort. I submitted proof of this change when I submitted a photo of the front (which, ironically, was accepted), but since one cannot directly submit photos while submitting a wayspot correction, it appeared as a third submission, with the second one being my rejected description correction request:

This is a photo of the same place taken several years ago that the Wayspot also uses:

My description, which was also rejected, stated the following: “Formerly known as Moonlite Game Centre, TTD Cards is a locally-owned store that has been a hub for all sorts of gaming-based fun for over twenty years.”

Why would someone accept the new photo proving the new name of the business and add it to the Wayspot and yet reject the new title and description? This is not a “repurpose" of a Wayspot as I understand it, since this is the same place. I do not understand how it benefits the community to go off of out-of-date information.

Hello again @CodeSlasher

At the core of what is happening here is what the Wayfarer Team describe as repurposing.

A wayspot is submitted and approved not for where it is but what is. So the original approval for this was for the fact it was the Game Centre, and for everything that business offered.

What hasn’t been approved is the business called TTD cards.

They sound as though they are both businesses in the same sector.

A question. Was the original business sold and a new company took over the premises. Or was it a rebrand by the same company?

In theory if it’s a new business it should be removed and a fresh submission made for the new business.

You can ask the property owner to contact Wayfarer about the change and they will consider if the wayspot can have a new title, description, photo (new identity) or if it will have to go through a remove resubmit process.

This is the form to request a modification of the wayspots identity

I hope this explains this complex situation and provides a way forward.

Thanks for the appeal, @CodeSlasher ,

We have retired the Wayspot in question as it is permanently closed now.

Best,

To be clear @CodeSlasher

This means you need to make a new nomination for the new business.

Demonstrate how this steps above an ordinary shop that is just transactional.
