現在は翻訳アプリもあるのだから日本語で返信出来ないのでしょうか
せっかく日本コミュニティですから日本語のみのコミュニティにして欲しいです

From someone who only speaks English, the translation tool on the forum allows us to translate what has been posted. There is no option to translate what we are typing before we post. I do refrain from giving advice on posts made in Japanese because I am afraid that I will miss a nuance of the language.
This is a global forum with a Japanese section which everyone can see. It is not exclusively for people in Japan, as people elsewhere have knowledge of wayfarer and can help advise about wayspots. It is also not exclusively for people who write in Japanese. There would be fundamental problems with trying either of these.
I would not want to rely on a translation tool turning what I write into Japanese, as I would then be responsible for what was written but would not know what it was. It is much safer for the reader to use the translation option, which is what this provides.

返信ありがとうございます。以前、私が英語版セクションで日本語で質問した際、「英語で書き込むように」と注意された経験があります。そのため、この「日本コミュニティ（日本語セクション）」においても、同様に日本語でのやり取りが尊重されるべきではないかと感じています。
翻訳ツールを使う手間はお互いに発生しますが、セクションごとの言語ルールが統一されることを望んでいます。
Thank you for your replies. Previously, when I posted in Japanese in the English section, I was told to write in English. This is why I feel that in this Japanese section, posting in Japanese should likewise be respected. While using translation tools requires effort from both sides, I would appreciate it if we could respect the designated language of this specific section.

Honestly, I do not understand this new “Japanese section,” because it all seems to go to the same place. I thought they were going to make a new forum with a new address when I saw the announcement. I do love that they have added staff who are fluent.

I think the Japanese section makes sense to the wayfarers in Japan, but it definitely doesn’t make sense to me, because I just see the threads there intermingled with the other threads.
Normally, the advice is to post in whatever language you are most comfortable writing it. This is often said to people who are writing in English but clearly struggling as it isn’t their native language.
It is likely you being told to write in English was either phrased badly or misunderstood. I do not remember a posting in Japanese outside of the Japanese section, and definitely don’t remember anyone complaining.

私の誤解だったのかもしれませんが、以前「英語で書くように」と直接指摘されたことがあり、それ以来は翻訳ツールを使って慣れない英語で投稿していました。自分の英語表現が正しいか常に不安でした。
しかし、自分が最も使いやすい言語で書いてよいと教えていただき、とても安心しました。これからは安心して投稿できそうです。優しいアドバイスをありがとうございました。

It might have been a misunderstanding, but I was indeed told directly in the past to “write in English.” Since then, I have been using translation tools to post in English, always worrying if my translations were accurate.
However, I am very relieved to hear that we should post in the language we are most comfortable with. Thank you for your kind reassurance and advice!

fyi, you don’t need to post in both languages. we can just use the translate globe at the bottom of your post.

日本語話者はこのフォーラムの設定を初期設定の英語から日本語に変更すれば英語の投稿に🌐（日本語への）翻訳ボタンが現れるはずです。

上記でWayfarer日本コミュニティへようこそ！で世界中から参加できるという告知されています。言葉は違ってもウェイファーラーのルールは共通ですし、英語圏のみなさんは公式フォーラム内で積極的に交流されていたので基準についての知識は私たちより豊富です。たくさん教えてもらうことがあります。
でも英語の返信があると戸惑いがあるのはわかります。ただ私たちは高校までの教育で英語を必ず学んでいますから、翻訳アプリを使って英文にしても正しく意図が伝わるかある程度検証できます。ところが日本語は平仮名、片仮名、漢字のゴチャ混ぜの時点で、全く触れたことがなければさっぱり分からないはずです。だから日本フォーラムとはいえ、世界中の人が必ず日本語での参加を求めるのは難しいと思います。でも教えてもらいたいことは先ほど述べた通りたくさんあります。今はAIの翻訳機能がかなり発達したので、文体がおかしくない限り互いの言語で意思疎通できます。
投稿するときは気にせず日本語で、ただしできるだけ正しい文体で投稿すれば大丈夫です。グローバルフォーラム側も本当は日本語で投稿してもよいのです。

Hi, I am a moderator on this forum. Could you please point me to where you were told to only write in English as this concerns me a little bit? We usually encourage people to do the exact opposite of that, i.e. to write in the language they are most comfortable in.
