I have a LEGO store I’ve been trying to get made into a pokestop and it keeps getting rejected. Its in a busy outdoor shoping center with other pokestops as stores, for example I’m 2 doors down from Adidas which has a pokestop and near another local store that sells video games that has a stop. I have Charmander and Squirtle LEGO Statues that are 2.5 feet tall to show off as well. I dont know if its the description, I’ve tried more description and less. The pictures, I’ve tried the store front, the pokemon statues and just the sign out front, all rejected. Please if anyone can give advice on how to alter submission to be approved I would be eternally greatful.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Scared me a little because I took the photo after store was closed Thats actually a maniquin in the window next door lmao but I can see what you mean! Thanks
Human is actually a manequin next door but can definitely take another pic without.
Gotcha, add store to surrounding photo. So you think just stepping back a good ways and taking an overall photo?
Not sure about the wayfarer page 5 but I will look it up.
Understand about the statues, just thought they were cool for the photodisc pic. Ive seen some other discs that use things like this but i get it doesnt mean they are supposed to have been approved.
As far as socializing, i guess its as good a place for socializing as any, especially stores like Adidas. Its a good meet up place. Theres no bench for card games but we are talking about pokemon go, its about walking and exploring so im not sure a bench for card battles would help. I think working on the other suggestions will though. Thanks for the input.
I believe this is still plus point. Take playground for example did you go there to play slide? Probably no, you might just drop your kids there while you play pogo.
The surrounding photo should help reviewer pin point your location. Since there are no street view, your surrounding photo should show object visible from satelite
Lol sorry. Didnt take good look of it. But some other reviewer trying to grind agreement might reject based on it anyway. So i always try to get “perfect” photo so reviewer wont have any chance of rejection. Regarding night photo. Some reviewer also might reject it if they think its not clear.. try to use day photo whenever possible
I think it is possible to work on your nomination to improve it…..
However there are some basics around wayspots appearing in Pokémon Go that unfortunately might mean your nomination would no5 appear in the game.
This going to get technical I’m sorry to say. All of what follows is derived from many years of observations by the community.
Pokémon Go uses some mapping software called S2 cells in order to space out pokestops and gyms. This article explains it https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/
The key point is that in a box known as a Level 17 cell, only 1 pokestop/gym can appear.
This is a screen shot of your shopping centre and the green boxes are the level 17 cells.
The dolphin fountain looks like it is in the same box as your shop - the area covered is slightly grey.
If this is the case even if approved your nomination would not be a pokestop. It does look as though it may become a Powerspot.
I know that’s not what you wanted to hear but this is the way things are. Being in the database means that it is there to be used if the game developers choose to change anything.
We will continue to assist if you want to make better attempts.
You have some great advice already. One thing I would say is to try to avoid any references to the game. You are nominating a waypoint, not a pokestop. The waypoint could be used in any of the games that uses the database, if accepted, and one of the submission rules says not to mention any of the games. You can include it in supplemental info, but I’d try to avoid this if you can.
With any nomination, it’s up to you to try to sell the nomination and persuade the reviewer that it’s worthy of becoming a way spot - if you can’t describe and convince the reviewer that it’s GREAT place to explore, socialise or exercise, you can’t expect them to accept it. Shops are really hard to get accepted (the fact some have been are irrelevant - they could be a sponsored stop, could have been accepted when criteria was different or could simply be someone got lucky with sympathetic reviewers). Never think that because something similar is in game it means your nom should be accepted - always think through a reviewing lens as if there’s nothing else there and it should stand on its own merits.
You said you weren’t sure about the wayfarer page 5 - what the person meant was when you log into the wayfarer page, there is an option there to make a submission (rather than in game) and this allows you to add 5 photos to show the surrounding area.
For your surrounding photo, I’d take a photo with your shop on the left or right side of you (so you can see the shop) but you can also see the other shops nearby so that reviewers can tell it’s where you say it is.
If your shop has won any awards, or has any write ups about how unique it is, or info online about events you run there, share links in the supplemental info to these. Maybe you run a monthly Lego building meet up - sharing the proof of that would show it’s somewhere to socialise!
Leaving aside what Elijustrying said about if the shop will actually become a stop or not, I think the way to get this accepted is to create a social space within the store to let people play with the lego together (or other social games). Shops aren’t often places to socialise, exercise or explore so they don’t get accepted.
Especially since more than one of us here saw a human and not a mannequin, I’d get a photo without it.
A link to the store in supporting information could help, too. The point would be to show how this meets criteria. If it were my nomination, I’d probably aim for the exploration route (as an unusual or locally unique shop).
A lot of great advise, I appreciate it. I definitely understand the manequin looking like a peep in the photo. I didnt realize people being in the photo would flag it and when i looked back at past submissions they all had people I also understand about the mapping software and the cells, but i also see in the other shopping centers around town where there are pokestops so close you can barely click on one, or the crazy areas around singapore that you see pics of. But i get that they may be trying to tame it down some. I went ahead and resubmitted with all the advice just to see anyway, we will see what they say. I submited on page 5 with 5 photos. Got a main photo with no people. Description was about the store and not as much about pokemon. Added what makes us a little more unique and that we have event space for build events and birthday parties. So we will see. Thanks everyone for all the help. Fingers crossed
That all sounds good.
In some shopping malls like you mention there are a large number of sponsored stops which is why they often look very crowded.
Here is hoping for some success for you.
