Two wayspots, approved a month ago, were removed from the map today. Wall Art ‘de Kikker’ and Wall Art ‘de Vissen’ located at 52.70277193000087, 6.195529821186625 in Meppel, the Netherlands
I’m not sure why they were removed. They are on the side of apartment complexes, not single-family private residential properties. They do not show up on Street View yet though. The paintings were requested in 2025 by local residents of the neighborhood association and were publically revealed recently: https://www.instagram.com/p/DY0D09QOxbv/
I have a hunch that someone on Wayfarer didn’t see the POI’s match the Street View, and reported them for being AI. Either that, or a certain local Pokemon Go player might be trying to get a gym elsewhere. But this is just speculation. I hope they can be restored, I was really happy with these submissions
It’s possible they were removed maliciously, but only Niantic have access to the submission report and speculation won’t get anywhere.
The best option is that Niantic see your evidence about these existing and reinstate them. This will not reinstate the gym, but will reinstate the wayspots. Unfortunately, if someone does maliciously report a gym successfully and gets the gym to appear somewhere else, they will still win even if the reported wayspot is reinstated. Niantic do not have a process in place to mitigate against this.
You might want to take a video and post it for extra evidence, especially as that instagram page failed to load the images and might give Niantic trouble.
There were four mailboxes for a single door. It is definitely an apartment complex, but they might have missed those four mailboxes and mistaken it for a single-family private residential property.
I noticed that too! It’s very strange. The Duck themed little library is gone too since yesterday, that was my favourite mini library stop in all of Meppel because of its originality
It’s possible that was on SFPRP (single family private residential property). You could post the location if you want advice on whether the removal seems correct.
The FLML does in fact appear to be about a meter from the public sidewalk on someone’s property yes, so there’s probably nothing to do about that removal
That’s our little free library. It used to stand on the grass across the street, but that wasn’t safe, so now it’s by the sidewalk. It is indeed in the garden, because otherwise it wouldn’t fit. You stand on the sidewalk to visit the free library. But all these little libraries eventually disappear—even the ones that are attached to a house but located on public land. Missed 5 since yesterday.
….. That’s actually amazing. I walk past this daily and I’ve considered telling the owner how cool their library is if I ever saw them. It’s crazy that I should encounter the owner here on this forum ahah

Maybe if you move it even closer to the sidewalk where the door of the library is openable from the sidewalk, it can be reinstated? But its your choice ofc
Even when the fence is back up, so it’s no longer part of the garden? That enclosed neighborhood garden “de mensa” is a stop you can’t actually access. I find it really conflicting
The issue is if the property the point of interest is actually on is “Single Family Private Residential Property.” This is a legal issue, and you cannot give your permission as resident and owner for it to be used in this way.
