Unable to Appeal Rejected Nomination

  • Nomination Screenshot:

  • Title: Dockside Picnic Table at Center Hill Marina

  • Description: Concrete picnic table at Center Hill Marina, located near the parking lot at Pier 4 / I Dock. Pack a picnic and enjoy the view!

  • Location: 36°04’36.8"N 85°51’29.2"W

  • Primary Photo:

  • Supplemental Text: This is a public-use picnic table, a permanent structure made of concrete. It is visible from satellite and has been here for several years. It meets Wayspot criteria as a gathering place at a very popular marina on Center Hill Lake. Could certainly use a cleaning, but is still frequently used.

  • Supplemental Photos:

On Saturday June 13th, I submitted a new nomination as detailed above. (I know the date says June 14th, but I did submit it on the 13th). Today, it was rejected for being “not permanent/distinct,” which is incorrect as it is both permanent (been here for 10+ years, concrete picnic table that cannot be easily moved) and distinct (no others nearby, unique structure at this marina). I wanted to appeal the rejection, however as you can see in my nomination screenshot, the appeal button is missing. I’m not sure if this is a glitch, or if the system has decided it won’t accept an appeal for whatever reason. Consider this post both an appeal for the rejection, and a question as to why the appeal button is missing from my contribution page. Thanks!

Also, here is the picnic table as seen from satellite imagery:

When is the last time you appealed a nomination? You get 2 on a 15-day counter each. Also, is that a very big car or a very small table?

I appealed an edit within the last 15 days, and I think there may have been another nomination that I appealed within that time as well. I didn’t realize there was a limit for appeals, is there any way to check how many days until I get one back?

If you’re talking about the second supplemental photo, I was using the wide lens on my camera so the truck does appear larger, I assure you that it is both a normal size vehicle and normal size picnic table haha.

Check the dates on the emails you received when you used your two most recent appeals, and then count 15 days forward from those dates to find out when they’ll refresh.

Nice nomination and good text, but reviewers might bristle at being told what meets criteria. It’s their job to decide. So possibly instead of saying “It meets Wayspot criteria as a gathering place…” the text could for example read “It is a popular gathering place…”.

That’s if you decide to resubmit instead of appeal.

Good point, thank you!
