I like to take the local culture into account. For me, that means that almost all cafes in my area are going to be good places to socialize. A cafe around here simply wouldn’t be able to stay open if it didn’t provide wi-fi and allow people to hang out for as long as they want. Many won’t think twice if your group pulls out a game to play or may even have a selection of games for that purpose. So while some people may think that is common, to me it would be a requirement when looking for a cafe to spend time in. (We do have a small few that are drive-thru only or have limited seating - those would not be eligible in my mind.)
If a bakery provides a place to sit and enjoy their wares, I might think of it the same way. But that’s not as common in my area. So when I nominate a bakery, I am looking for some unique menu item they offer. I just got one approved that is so popular that the day I took the photo of it, they had closed early to participate in a local festival.
I would also remind everyone that the information to explain how the place made a good wayspot may have all been contained in the supplemental (as we’ve seen above). So after something has made it through to the map, we may not understand fully what was presented to reviewers to get them to approve it.
