Unsigned but obvious trailheads

I’ve got a question about neighbourhoods that back onto ravines and green spaces with trail systems connected at various points throughout the neighbourhood.

Specifically, I’m wondering about trailheads that are clearly a trailhead or access point to a trail system, but that don’t have signage. They’re not on private property and are obviously maintained access points to an official trail. They have bollards with reflectors to prevent access to vehicles, ATVs, etc, like most pedestrian/cyclist only trails. Some entrances might have a sign posted by the city saying pedestrians only, no vehicles, horses, etc.

These seem to be hit or miss when it comes to getting approved, and the ones more likely to get approved have a more visually distinct feature (like a set of stairs, for example).

Basically, I’m wondering if the less visually interesting, yet obvious access points / trailheads are eligible or not? I’ve had some rejected for not being ‘permanent or distinct’ and I’m debating whether it’s worth appealing them (via Wayfarer, or the Wayspot Appeals category), or if that is a waste of time.

I can post example photos if needed, but since this is a general question, I’ve opted to keep it generic for now.

General questions are very difficult to answer. Every Wayspot is unique. I have had plenty of appeals rejected with something about needing the placemarker sign to be acceptable.

I have also had appeals accepted when I had the entrance gate as the visual anchor representing the trail. And bollards to keep vehicles out, along with links to prove it is a maintained trail have proved successful anchors.

So an appeal could still be hit or miss depending on the Wayspot – that makes sense.

This might be slightly off topic, but I’ve never appealed on Wayfarer before, and I know we only have 2 slots at any time. Do I have the opportunity to add additional information to clarify why I’m appealing once I hit the button? Or does it just go off with the information as-submitted? I’m debating whether to just resubmit with better additional information for community reviewers, or whether to use an appeal slot…

You get the opportunity to add information and more context to help the Scopley employee reviewer. since we now have soo many submissions, if can be better to try again before using an appeal.
